Hot British Boyfriend by Kristy Boyce ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I was super excited to move on to another cute and funny romance from Kristy Boyce since I enjoyed her Dungeons and Drama series so much. Almost immediately I could sense this must’ve been one of her first written books because it seemed as if she hadn’t quite grasped her writing style yet. The story had so much potential, but it honestly lacked… a lot. The FMC was a senior in high school so the immaturity she displayed constantly throughout the book was believable to me because it corresponded with how boy crazy girls may act, but I just didn’t like it, I guess? You embarrass yourself so you take a trip to get away from everyone you embarrassed yourself in front of? Yes. You post pictures with cute boys to prove to those people you’ve moved on? Yes. You ditch your friends to hang out with said boy? Yes. All of that is believable when coming from a teenage girl. HOWEVER, your mom WANTS you to meet a guy while you’re without her on a 4 month long school exchange trip? No. Your mom will be excited to hear about you getting in a car with a guy you just met in another country that you’ve never been to so he can take you on a trip somewhere else? No! Come on. An 18 year old guy also making a giant deal out of the fact you’re younger than him by one year?? It was all just weird to me on top of the fact I absolutely HATED the spoiled brat of a MMC. My God. He was so unlikable I almost DNF’d the book several times and only continued because the chapters he was “on vacation” were actually enjoyable to read lol. If you haven’t gotten the jist of the story by now, it’s about a girl who embarrassed herself so bad in front of her crush that she signs up for a semester long exchange program to get away from the people at school to have a few months in a new place. Instead of making the most of her trip by studying and enjoying the scenery, she clings to the first cute guy she meets until she finally realizes she’s a clingy boy crazy girl who needs to choose herself over superficial people. She discovers her true people in the process.

Oh no no no no no, the ''I'll lie about everything to these people to get them to like me'' trope has never been good.
I'm looking at you Michi Torres!
