This was a super cute story of a high school girl who experiences massive embarrassment in the age of social media and chooses to go to England for a semester of study in an accelerated honors course of study. The problem is, she has not previously applied herself in regards to her studies. Overall, it's a fun, and relatable story(not in the way that I was ever able to study abroad) of a girl trying to find her way in life and in love. 4.0 stars

Note: there was some foul language. Also, multiple G.D.'s which I did not appreciate.

the main character was dumb af, and the fact her “hot british boyfriend” literally said that she was just a “distraction” from reality and his real world struggles just didn’t sit right with me

Pure, blissful popcorn reading. Nothing overly complicated, just a good old fashion YA novel. It reminded me of All American Girl #1 by Meg Cabot. That was a favorite during my London study abroad in 2003.

Ellie has an embarrassing, viral moment, at her school. In an attempt to escape she rushes to sign up for a study aboard program. Along the way she finds new friends from her original school and a dashing Brit. One she is herself with and the other is her version of make believe.

Overall, this was a decent and enjoyable read, quickly to go through and light.
I can't lie that Will was so toxic in the beginning and I wanted to stop reading, but the more the relationship between Dev and Ellie developed, the more enjoyable it got. I feel like the ending was a bit rushed and it felt like it kind of ended abruptly. I also think that Will and his toxic behaviour and manipulation should have been addressed more (I understand where he is coming from but that doesn't make him a good person)
I also sometimes felt uncomfortable with how it viewed British people and the country overall but I know that there are people that are obsessed with it in the way Ellie is so I guess.
Since I don't want to be overly negative, I do want to point out that I liked the banter between the characters, I felt like Ellie did grow in some way as a person and I do admire her aspiration to get a hot British boyfriend as a payback. Love her for that

Like I said, if you're up for a light read without thinking too much, this definitely is a good idea. Has some good moments and gets begter if you get past the first third of the book

As a British adult this was incredibly cringe to listen to. But I expected that going in. It was fun for what it was with a good cast of characters and great friendships.

A lot of the clearly inaccurate British stuff and the Harry Potter references lowered the rating though.

A total delight. Brought back all my memories of study abroad in London.

De enige reden dat ik dit heb gelezen is omdat ik een luisterboek zocht waarbij ik maar 1 hersencel hoefde te gebruiken. Did it, maar was verder niet bijzonder lol

Cute and fun adventure. I wish she would've figured some stuff out faster about herself, but otherwise fun adventure.

Was this corny and silly? For sure. Did I still enjoy it? …Yes.
