David Thorne
slow-paced
David Thorne's 4th book and is very much like the first 3. Laugh out loud funny in parts and cringe worthy in other parts. It's short and definitely worth the read. His email thread with a neighbor trying to set up a neighborhood watch is classic.
I enjoyed this book. I laughed, I teared up, I looked at squirrels in a different light. I like the mix of humor and personal back stories that Thorne has added to the most recent books he has published. This book still had the emails but included some deep stories that helped to give a picture of a more rounded person.
This book brought a new level to the author and his life story that I appreciated. I agree with some of the other individuals that the book could have used an actual editor, however, I didn't find it as bad as others have stated.
I like the style Thorne has of telling a story and then going off on a tangent about something else, usually unrelated. He brings it back eventually to the story he was telling in the first place. Most of the time if he is telling a sad story, the tangent provides a humorous addition that lightens the mood and vice versa. This style of writing is not for everyone, it does get a little choppy and abrupt but to me, it just feels like more of an in-person conversation.

Not for me.
Some of the stories were genuinely entertaining, but there were also others I could not like. Jokes based on fat-shaming and about transgender people are not things I can get behind.

Some of it was funny, some of it was a little off tone and JESUS, David, it's obvious how much you dislike the look of fat women. You don't have to keep harping on about it constantly.
Overall not as funny as his blog, which is a shame because his blog is comedy gold.

Discovered Thorne around the time of Missing Missy. Became huge fan. Now I enjoy sending him money for no reason, as I think he deserves the style to which he has become accustomed.
fast-paced
I just can’t get into it.
I appreciate the quick wit and sarcasm but it’s not engaging me at all

4.5 stars. Well-written, extremely funny stories with few duds.
Not recommended for owners of a Nissan Cube. Otherwise, quite lovely.
