this was just as fantastic as the first one. it had all the same wonderful elements and the characters really learn, grow, and develop friendships getting to know one another more and working on completing their tasks. Then had me going straight for book 3.

I don't know how I'll feel about anything when my memories return." His arm tightened around her. "But I know I fear losing you more than anything that might befall me."

Kill me. Shoot me. Punch me. Do whatever you want, but just end my misery I've been trapped in since finishing Dark Tempest last night at 3 a.m.

WHY IS THIS SERIES SO UNDERRATED I DON'T UNDERSTAND YOU GUYS YOU DON'T HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE MISSING

Dark Tempest picks right off after the end of Red Winter and wow. Just wow. I don't have any words left. I don't even know how to review this book.
The character development is on point.
The plot is on point, changing from action packed scenes (hell yes!!) and more quiter, cute and funny moments)
The world building is on point.

I. LOVED. EVERYTHING.

Emi won't let people command her anymore. She wants to fight. And she does. I'm still speechless about her development. She went out of her comfort zone and fought. She really fought alongside strong yokai, showing them that she, as a human, can make a change. I admired her and her resolve.

And then there is Shiro and sorry Emi, but can I have him?! Please?! PLEASE.
He is such a flirt, charming and funny serious situations. I cannot resist him. I. Can.Not. Resist.Him. He definitely got a place as one of my bookhusbands. Fight me if you want!
Despite of his flirty behaviour, Dark Tempest shows us he's lost and scared of his past. Seeing him like this broke my heart, but it's a part of his development, his past he has to face sooner or later.

At this point I want to make clear how much I'm shipping Emi and Shiro. I don't when was the last time I felt such a strong shipping love for book characters. I. LOVE. THEM. New OTP

You know what ... if I cannot have Shiro, can I have Yumei?! He is mysterious and cool (yes, he IS cool). I always have to smile whenever he has a discussion with Emi or Shiro. Further, his characters also developed a lot.

Sigh .... I need the third installment. But I don't want to read it because it's the last book in the series. But I need more of my OTP and Yumei. I need more of this world. My heart beats for this series.

The first book was really good but this one was even better.
First book initially felt a little slow, since the story, characters and stakes all had to be set up before it got going. Since that was all accomplished in book 1, book 2 was such a rush of action and plot developments. It was such a joy to read as everything felt so exciting.
Also, some small things that I disliked in book 1 I didn't see as much in book 2. For example, the repetitive mention of Shiro's 'ruby eyes' didn't make as much of an appearance in the second book. I feared a love triangle reading the first book but was happy to see that didn't go any further. Overall the whole thing felt more put together.
I was also surprised there was a plot twist I did not see coming. I had no idea, and it was such a good twist too!
Looking forward to reading the final book and I hope it's just as good as book 2.

This book suffers from second book syndrome - if I have to read more about shiro and emi’s tepid romance I might die. The action scenes are well done though and I’d really love if this got adapted into a manga or anime.
