This was okay. Interesting short stories that take place in the future in different worlds and with different contexts. Nothing I was super excited about but was good to read to pass the time.

I usually don’t like reading short stories, but I really loved these! Veronica Roth is a magician at story telling! I lost myself in the first story.

I was really looking forward to reading this collection of Roth short stories, as I've always enjoyed her writing. However, this collection really disappointed me. The books all have a common theme in that they are sci-fi/fantasy in genre and someone/something dies. So head up, triggers for that.

The first short story was actually quite alright - there was hope, some cool technology, got me thinking about what I would do in a similar situation to the characters. But after that, the rest of the stories just went down hill. They felt cheesy, badly written, and like plot fillers to something larger. I understand that short stories don't have much space to flesh out characters in too much depth, but that doesn't mean that they can't be interesting. Unfortunately, I just didn't really care what happened to a lot of the characters due to general bad writing. This was published in 2019 as well, definitely would have expected this to have been a first book published kind a work, where the author is still working on getting... good.

I’ve never read Veronica Roth‘s books before. The short stories were a good introduction to her world. I would assume that the last two stories were part of her novel world. Each story was different, a story about self discovery, free will. stories about choice, and deciding which choice is the best for you

Wasn't into the final stories as much as the beginning and middle - guess that means the Carve the Mark series is not for me - but I love Roth's style and diversity using a main theme throughout.

When this book ended I was shocked i wanted more. more stories, and even more of the stories that are in this book each one could be turned in to a full novel.
