Didn’t wow me as much as Cleo & Frank, but I still enjoyed this moving portrait of grief, addiction, and sisterhood. The depth and unbreakable strength of the sibling relationships were what really moved me - it captured a lot of the deep love I feel for my own sister. I think if I were to reread this if (the powers that be forbid) my sister passed away before me, this book would absolutely crush me. Coco Mellors is adept at crafting believable characters, though I wish Bonnie was slightly more fleshed out. As an older sister I definitely felt called out by some of Avery’s flaws and thought patterns lol but this is the beauty of literature! Will still definitely read whatever Coco Mellors writes in the future.

A must-read if you have sisters <3 this book is about grief, addiction, regret, and coming back together as quickly as we fall apart. Told from the POVs of three sisters, each sister has her own voice and arc and yet you can see the threads that tie them together. About midway through, the plot loses itself a little and the pacing slows down to the point that I was checking how many pages I had left in a chapter… and the epilogue perhaps tries to tie things up tooooo neatly for a book that otherwise perfectly captures the messy, tumultuous, but ultimately lovingly precious nature of sisterhood. Eldest daughters unite <3

Beautiful story telling. I found myself captivated by each sister and their journeys.

A lovely story of the Blue sisters, each dealing with the aftermath of their darling sister, Nicky's death. Each sister, uniquely her own, reacts to Nicky's death within the year anniversary of her passing. Their lives will never be the same. It is a story about grief, childhood trauma, and the sister bond that is visceral and real. The story takes the reader through each remaining sister's reaction to Nicky's death and how each sister uniquely handles the fall-out as a result of her death.

The writing was enjoyable and well done, more literary than I expected and could be one of my favorite novels of the year. Beautifully written and would be enjoyed by those who liked Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolitano.
