I never read this when I was young, but it has stayed as a classic so I decided to listen the audiobook during a flight. I think I would have liked this more as a kid, but I can see why people still love it. It has a good message and a cute friendship.

Interesting idea of two friends who are misfits but together make a whole..? One with the body, one with the brain. Middle school read.

My son read this book in school and loved it. He suggested I read the copy we had from the library so I did. It probably took me a total of about 2-3 hours.

Though it took me a few pages to really get into it due to the writing style, I enjoyed this book the whole way through. I loved the perspective and found the relationship absolutely beautiful.

I have to say, reader beware, despite this being a young reader book it packs a punch. And I find myself sitting here unable to answer my husbands question of “how was it?” without choking up.

This was a truly beautiful story.
