I have conflicting feelings about this one, hence the 3 stars. Overall the plot was well written and there were plenty of very compelling characters. There is a lot of spice, to the point of being excessive in my opinion. When sexual references are made in almost every chapter, I start rolling my eyes. In the same vein though, certain parts had me hooked, and the general plot continuously had me excited to read it. Just due to the amount of spice, I don’t think I’ll continue with the series.
3.5 or 4 stars, I can't decide. I had a good time reading this book! I was excited to read a standalone fantasy story. The idea of the story having a proper ending and no cliffhanger until I read the next book was very nice. I really liked the plot and the world of Throne of the Fallen. The plot twists weren't obvious and I liked how the characters dealt with the problems and development during their adventures. Camilla was a mystery to me and I loved that we slowly got to know her secrets throughout the book. The same with Envy. Their relationship was fun and I liked the romance a lot. There was a lot of sexual tension, but I'm happy it wasn't just about physical attraction. The writing really showed that Envy cared about Camilla even if he tried not to show it. It was refreshing to not have unnecessary miscommunication between the main characters.

What makes this series different from most of the demon/fantasy romance out there is that it is written in the voice of a Bridgerton novel. The plot was a bit disjointed and the twists were pretty obvious. I enjoy the idea of these books but between the excessive flourishes and predictability, it didn’t hold my attention well.
