3.64 AVERAGE

This is the first book I've been brave enough to read from a good few I got from my Nan's after she passed, I have them from my Gran's as well, and there has been something keeping me from reading any for a while.
As though they are the last new experiences my grandparents can offer me and so I want to make them last, and though they are only books - and maybe not even favourite books at that - I know the power of words and didn't want to disappoint myself.
As such, I am pleased to say that this book was as genuinely charming, funny and sad as anything you'd expect to have to step into quite such large shoes. I enjoyed the stories, and the two plotlines were resolved in a very pleasing ending. Not exactly mind-blowing, but no complaints from me

A gentle little read. 3.5 stars.

Read the first chapter three times and I was already confused by the characters. No thanks.

2.5 ⭐️

I had really loved Ruth Hogan’s book “The Moon, The Stars, and Madame Burova” so I was looking forward to this read.

However, it didn’t grip me.

I started this book literally 2 years ago and got about half way through before I stopped. I wasn’t sure if I would DNF it, but just knew it wasn’t hitting then.

I picked it back up this month on audiobook just to finish it.

I really did enjoy the general concept of collecting lost things and it turning into a calling to return meaningful “junk” to its original owner.

I also liked the thread of everything leading up to the two main characters converging at the end.

I think the biggest hang-up for me was that I didn’t invest a lot in the actual characters other than Boomer and Sunshine.

Thinking back on some of the stories Anthony made up, they were a cool idea that didn’t always interest me in execution

If you like fun and whimsical, it could be ok... but even if that was my criteria, I’d still only give it 2 starts
