If you like fun and whimsical, it could be ok... but even if that was my criteria, I’d still only give it 2 starts

I wanted to like this more than I did. It's a lovely concept and for the most part, beautifully executed. I just wish there had been a lot more of it.

If this had been a book of short stories written by Anthony Peardew, I would have rated it 5 stars. That part was wonderful. The romance felt quite tiresome in comparison. I didn't like Laura's tendency to put herself down constantly because of her age either. The supernatural element was also weird and felt really extraneous.

I liked how the story tied itself into a pretty little bow at the end, but I wanted more from this book.

The character development was too weak for me (which is the #1 thing that pulls me into a book). A lot of the times the language was cliched and felt stilted and artifical. the special needs character felt like a prop for the main character, Laura, who has to be one of the characters that I least empathized with. The only character that really felt real was the house, Padua. I did like some of the "Lost things" stories but overall this book just did not speak to me :/

I absolutely devoured this book. It was such a lovely feel good book, I couldn’t help but to feel happy as soon as I finished it. I loved the way the little details all slotted in together.

Outside of my normal comfort zone and it was awesome! I will now always say "The Lovely Cup of Tea" due to the amazing performances of the audiobook. Thank you for this book.

I have to admit, I bought this book for its beautiful cover, but I'm happy to say I was pleasantly surprised. It kept me reading vigorously and calmed me with a satisfying ending. All in all, nice summer read!
medium-paced

I prefer books with more dialogue and found myself having to go back and re-read sections of the book to grab details.

I LOVED Portia’s writing!!! Laugh out loud funny.
