There is a lot of dark times in this book, and after finding out what happened to Reaper, I can understand why he’s the way he is now. There’s also the big issues that are happening in the book that will show off some of the other Torpedo Ink club members. I’m interested to read more about Absinthe, Code, Steele, Savage, etc. There are so many different characters that are mentioned briefly in the book, but those stuck out to me in this book the most.

Overall, I give the first book to the series 3.5 stars and recommend it to fans of Christine Feehan’s other books and readers that love a mixture of PNR/motorcycle club in their books. This book may not be my favorite, but that is due to certain elements that bothered me. I did enjoy the book though it just took me a while to read this book.

Will, I read the next book in the series? Yes. I want to find out more about the other club members and find out about their troubled pasts and find out who they will fall in love with in their stories.

Book #58 of the EBN Challence at my Library.
Challenge Topic: A Wild Card: A book that your mom loves.

So my mom called me when she finished this book and said "You have to read this!! I've found a new love." So I picked it up and Wow... what an amazing story. Reaper is awesome and scary and my heart breaks for him a little. This is his story and Anya's. She is also and amazing character and the stuff she puts up with... dang.

Great great read.... but then it's Christine Feehan... so of course it was great.

This review was originally posted on Addicted To RomanceI received this book for free from Berkley Publishing Group in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Judgment Road is a sensational edgy and raw romance that brings together two tortured souls who find redemption and a love they never imagined....

What a story and so intense!! Of course, this is Christine Feehan and I am never surprised with what books she puts out, they are ALWAYS intense, but this book had a different feel to it and I loved everything about this book. I was curious before grabbing this one, how Feehan would be able to handle a biker romance and SUPERB!! That is all, this book exceeded my expectations and more. I just have so much love for this author, and this book is evidence of how talented she is. Now Judgment Road is an extension of two previous series and I love the connection between the two series and this charming coastal town that I would love to visit in real life.

The key players in this amazing romance are:

  • Reaper, a man that is tortured by the sins of his past, who has had to commit acts to save the family he adopted as his own and to protect himself and defend the men and women he would give his life for. Reaper is a fighter, and a protector but is rough around the edges.

A beautiful, troubled man, forged by the fires of hell, ravaged by monsters.

  • Anya is on the run, her life is in danger and she is in hiding. She grew up on the streets, went to bartender school to make a good living and is dang good at what she does. But she is independent and doesn't ask help from anyone. She is strong and resilient and courageous.

So this book was simply so emotional and what a ride this story turned out to be!!! I just couldn't put this book down and I wouldn't ever want to either. What I was really intrigued by in this story was the way that these characters pull together and the family of "torpedo ink" and the close bond they have for each other.
'I can't. I need a man whose first loyalty is to me. I want him fierce with his protection of me and our children. With you, the club will always come first, and I understand. I do. I just can't live with that

The story begins when Anya starts working as a bartender in the Torpedo Ink bar. She keeps to herself and works hard. But there is one man among the Torpedo Ink brothers that scares her....Reaper. She thinks that he hates her especially when he tries to get her fired. Reaper has always had the job of protecting his brothers especially their leader and would do anything for Czar and his wife Blythe. He knows that Anya is hiding something big, and he doesn't trust her or her secrets. But there is a danger surrounding them, and when a neighboring club comes to them for help in rescuing their leader's wife who has been kidnapped and is probably being raped and tortured, they need information. Information that is needed to rescue the innocent woman and Anya has that information. There has been a great connection between Reaper and Anya, but their relationship is fragile. And Reaper makes a decision that may make him lose her forever.....
He needed her brightness. He needed to see himself the way she did. He could be that man because she believed he was that man

WHAT  A STORY that this turned out to be and I was blown away by this book and I never wanted it to end. Like seriously, Christine Feehan....this book could have been 600 pages or longer and I wouldn't want it to end. There was such a riveting feel to this book and these characters just tugged at my heartstrings in the most poignant of ways. I will say that this is edgier, now if you are used to Christine Feehan's style of writing than you will love this book. However, if you are new to her and aren't a fan of darker themes, this book probably won't be for you. Because it does deal with some tough subjects and it's just not the type of story that everyone would love. It's not light or fluffy, its edgy and raw but so riveting and I can't share enough my love for this story.

My heart just broke so much for Reaper and Anya, these two just need love and affection so badly and I just wanted to weep for these two and their situation. But what was most remarkable about this book was seeing their relationship blossom so beautifully and the ways that they learn to fight for each other. It's not easy for either of them, but they never give up on each other, no matter how terrible it gets. I was swept away by their bond, mostly because you see their pasts and how much they have suffered and seeing them trying to build something new and experience building a relationship which neither of them have ever done before so of course, they will make mistakes. But they work through these mistakes and only become stronger for it.

This is a story that will break you, it will wreak havoc on your emotions, but it will also deliver the most precious, tender and poignant romance you could ever pick up!! A TRUE JEWEL!!

My first MC romance was a success! This was super dark because of the club members' pasts, so most definitely not for everyone. I felt awful for Reaper, though he made a stupid mistake that usually wouldn't have worked for me. I loved Anya's strength and willingness to stand up to Reaper and his alpha tendencies. The club made an awesome family to one another, so that was nice to see. I've always been nervous about MC romance, but this one was well-done, at least to me. It was angsty, definitely dark, very steamy, and I had a hard time putting it down.

4.25 Stars rounded down to 4 stars

Has a lot going for it but had to deduct .75 stars for all the repetition.
This is the 2nd time I have read this author and she did the same thing in the other book of hers I read. Though it wasn't quite as bad in this one.
Feels like she either uses it for filler or thinks her readers are idiots.

All the characters are very intriguing. Great suspense and action.
Super hot adult scenes.
The main characters of this one, their interactions etc, were fantastic.

I'm intrigued enough to want to read the next.

There are 'Hints' towards supernatural 'Gifts' but never really spelled out that way.

I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. We met a lot of these characters in the final book of the Sea Haven series, Bound Together. They intrigued me then so I was especially excited to see that Christine Feehan was going to spin them off into their own series. I definitely wanted to know more about them!

The members of Torpedo Ink have been through the unimaginable and they don't believe they could ever live normal lives. Czar and Blythe are trying to teach them how to live in society without the constant killing. However, Torpedo Ink still does runs to help the innocent.

Reaper is one of Torpedo Ink's deadly enforcers and has BTDT. However, he cannot understand his reactions to the new bartender at the club's bar. He wants her fired to try and stop his obsession, but truly he doesn't think he can stay away even if she was to be fired. Reaper has serious issues. These make him dangerous and he believes unable to have a normal relationship. But he just can't stay away from Anya.

Anya has secrets of her own. Like why she is living out of her car in the campground. She is a great bartender though and can't understand why Reaper wants her fired. Then they start to have a relationship. They seem to be slowly finding their way with each other until Anya's secret comes out and Reaper is left to choose between his club and his girl. That is just the tip of the iceberg for this couple's problems.

I was on an emotional roller coaster this entire book. I've had a spot in my heart for the club members from the beginning and watching Reaper go through these things in life he's never had before was heartbreaking. He'd make progress, then things would get torn apart. One step forward, two steps back. My heart ached for the both of them during some scenes and the tears, they were pooling.

I think we get the hint of who our next couple is going to be and it will be between two clubs. That is going to be interesting because you can't leave Torpedo Ink. Of course, there are 18 survivors that form Torpedo Ink, so there are a lot of stories that could be told. I hope this is a long series. Especially if they are all like this one.

Christine Feehan doesn't hold back on the action or the romance. The depraved characters the club go up against really turn your stomach and a lot of issues get addressed. Nothing is too much, and that just pulls you through all your emotions. Be prepared going in that you are not going to want to put this book down. This review was originally posted on Rantings of a Reading Addict

I was really looking forward to this series, but I almost didn't finish this book. It's just not for me.
I thought I would like the characters, and I do to a point, but they are almost unlikeable in their relationship. I get that it's not the point, but so many things bothered me.
I don't know that I will continue this series. I don't want to not read these characters again, but reading the blurb for the latest on makes mw think they will all be like this. Ugh. I guess I will stick to Carpathians.
