Need to reread the series, some of it went over my head and I think I would enjoy it more now.

For some reason, it took some time settling into the author’s writing style. I did end up enjoying the story though.
I loved how Uncle Frank and Aunt Dotty welcomed Henry into their home. I especially liked how Uncle Frank encouraged Henry and then gave him a little room to try things for himself. Penelope, Henrietta and Anastasia were likable enough, yet each were, at one point or another a tad annoying.
I expected more adventure and exploring of the cupboards, so I was a little disappointed that so much of the exploration seemed to revolve around one task. I am interested in knowing more, so I will be continuing the series.

I don't know if I was reading this book when I was too tired or distracted, but I found myself quite often confused. Something would pop up in a sentence and be important. Sometimes I would never find what it seemed like I missed. Since I often read tired and distracted, I don't feel like that was enough to make me feel lost so often in this story. I just don't think the story was as flushed out as I would have appreciated!

Henry York leaves his sheltered Boston life and moves to Henry, Kansas to live with his relatives after his parents go missing. Learning to live with his extended family and small town life is a new experience for Henry. But baseball, tumbleweeds and living in an attic are just the beginning! Henry and cousin Henrietta discover hidden doors in his attic room. The doors lead seem to lead ot other worlds...but are the other worlds safe?
The cover of 100 Cupboards compelled me the most. Who wouldn't want to explore a wall full of cupboards? Unfortunately, this was my second try at listening to this book. The storyline was a bit slow in the beginning. The pace didn't pick up until late in the book. The storyline wove through family history, adventures in other worlds, mysterious people and the struggle between good and evil which are excellent themes for any fantasy book. For myself, I am not certain I'll continue with this series. A big part was not connecting with the reader, Russell Horton. His voice didn't drive me want to continue listening to the audiobook. My goal was to finish the story to see if I should continue with the series, but it was a conscious effort to listen to this book versus the radio or music CD. All in all, I think this story would be better enjoyed by reading it in book form.

I enjoyed this book, and I liked the premise of a wall that can take you to 99 different places. If you only know how to control them.

Well, this was a very interesting book. I really liked the idea of going through cupboards to get to different worlds, but most of the cupboards seemed so dark. If fact the whole story seemed kind of dark. Also, it didn't seem to me like Henry and Frank ever defeated the bad guys. I think this is the beginning of a series, but it seemed to me that, other then shoving the bad guy back into the cupboard, there was no victory at all. And there wasn't a lot of explanation at the end. That made it kind of confusing.
I am probably being rather harsh, but I did like the characters of Frank and Henry.
