Now this is the classic John Constantine: cynical, daredevil, curious, a complete bastard, someone who cares. Occult detective? Modern crusader? Opportunist? Nobody knows, but he is constantly walking in the shadows, learning, fighting, loving and grieving. A truly fascinating character, and a fantastic collection of his firsts tales.
Yikes. I may try more Hellblazer down the road, but I hope it distances itself from this. I understand it's from the 80s, but the dialogue is stilted and corny, and the art looks like a Bazooka Joe comic. I liked almost nothing about this.
I really expected a supernatural, horror romp, but this was disappointing.
I read the first issue to get a taste of him. Maybe I'll try the second one later on when I'm in the mood for a graphic novel setting. Not giving up, but setting aside for now.
A solid introductory arc for the character and the series.
I was waiting for my Bi King to show his colours but instead I got swamp thing. Good first look into the Hellblazer comics, will probably pick up another volume in the future

this was fun to read the original comic of Constantine. it wasn't as fabulous as I hoped but it was still fun!
This was my first foray into reading comic books. I turned to this after the tragic cancellation of the TV Show based on John Constantine (I HAD TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED AT NEWCASTLE!). I flew through this in a day or so. The story lines are fascinating and John Constantine is the antihero you love to hate. I love that he isn't your run of the mill super hero and I can't wait to read the second installment of this set of comics!
