Pushing a lifestyle to don’t agree with
This is the sequel to the book "Crush it" and looks at many testimonials from people who have used Gary V's principles to better their lives and increase their business. Gary steps in and gives some insight to each story and some pointers along the way. I haven't read Crush it yet, so this was basically listening to my cousin talk about his friend's, buddy's, sister's business practice. Would likely be much more impactful having read the book that helped to make this one.
Really motivational book for anyone looking to build a company/brand/voice or anything. Gary does a good job mixing practical advice (what social media platforms to use for what kind of growth and how to make the most noise on them) with motivation to keep you plugging ahead and really evaluate what you're trying to do, how you're going about it, and how to make it happen.
I also enjoyed reading the stories of his followers writing in about how this book's predecessor helped them, and it gave a few other good lessons, but some of them seemed to be forced in there. A few of those could have been removed and it would have been an even better and quicker read (though I got through it in less than a week, showing how engaging it was).

I finished this a couple of days ago but just got around to writing this review. I wanted to read this book ever since I saw that it's recommended on several book lists. I'm glad I read this book because Gary wrote about how people can be successful as long as they are willing to work hard for it. It was definitely inspiring for me. I'm looking forward to reading the first book: Crush It. I'm sure it will add further insights on how I (or we!) can crush it.
This book is worth reading, again and again. Equal-parts inspirational and practical, providing real life examples of people who have earned their success paired with the tools and steps that you can use yourself to do the same. I’ve been sharing it with all of my friends, can’t recommend it enough.
It's a mindset book. Judging if it's useful or not is beyond me. But what it does, and it does effectively (the guy's blunt as hell), is instilling confidence. Think of a mentor yelling at you while you wipe off the dribble of spit, "FOLLOW YOUR PASSION" , "BE AUTHENTIC", "GIVE, GIVE,GIVE", "LIVE ON YOUR OWN TERMS", "EAT SHIT, BE PATIENT", "WORK".
If you listen to his podcasts 24/7, you'll probably get the most of it. This is the 2nd book I read from Gary V. The first one was Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook. I regret not buying Crush It! which seems like a mandatory read before this. I've gotten more practical knowledge bits from JJJRH (too long so this'll do) regarding social media marketing, demographics and what works though it's a little outdated.
Crushing It! focuses more on the mindset than anything else. Around the end, you'll get a near bullet-point advice on social media marketing but 3/4th of the book is dedicated to what goes in the head.
