6 stars. Absolutely devastating. I need book 4!!!!!!

It was the best so far in the installment and my favorite one. Is is the best series for me? No, but maybe dark fantasy just isn't my go-to genre. Orlaigh was also better but still I wished her growth and evolution was faster. All in all, I will read the next book happily and I want to know how it all wraps up, since the story itself is gripping.

It’s all coming together!!! I thought this was the last book in this series but it isn’t and now I have a cliffhanger ending

❤️‍

Very much ready to learn wtf this prophecy is about, hoping the
mating bond or whatever
will help her grow up some and stop making such frustrating choices

“I know the hurt is loud, but it won’t always be.” He holds my hands, like they’re butterflies caught in a warm hug. “One day it’ll stop screaming at you. It’ll become nothing more than a whisper.”

I am so overwhelmed right now. A mere few words won't be able to fully express how much I love the series. This book is breathtakingly beautiful and devastating at the same time. I sobbed and laughed and felt everything what Orlaith was feeling- pain, sorrow, guilt, shame.

I am so proud of Orlaith in this book. I love that she is totally flawed and not some typical female character who has to oh so perfect girl. Her journey is one of the most beautiful thing I've experienced. I can understand her every action and reaction. It is always so real. The way she is blooming more and more each day, I waiting for that day with a bated breath on which she blooms completely and how she turns out to be.

As we dive into the book, we see more of the complex and dark world. Many secrets are revealed, many questions are answered, which we had since the first book but at the same times more questions are raised than ever, more secrets are packed and hidden away. To be honest, I wasn't expecting the reveals to so shocking, I thought I had it figured out but oh my my, I was so wrong.

S. A. Parker didn't hesitate to show us the dark and deprave things of Orlaith's world. What we are shown is just barely a scratch on the surface of the world. I am so intrigued with the complex world weaving and the lore. I can't wait to explore more.

There are multiple POVs like previous book in the series. It gives us an insight into other characters' mind and life. I am very surprised by the fact that none of the characters are truly bad or truly good. All of them are morally grey and complicated. I won't be able to talk about this more because those would be spoilers.

I would really love that you would jump into this book without any expectations and even minor spoilers so that you get to experience everything on your own. As you know, this is a character-driven story, you must be patient. This one surely has more pace than To Snap A Silver Stem and I loved every second of it.

I consider this series as the one of the finest Dark Fantasy Romance. It has everything from flawed and morally grey characters, phenomenal world building, surprising plot twists to action scenes, angst, tension, romance and portrayal of dark and gritty things. I would Highly recommend this series to all my dark fantasy lovers.

I truly thank Sarah for this wonderful book.

I know this book hasn't been released yet but I already want to have my hands on book 4 right away.

TWs- explicit dark and graphic scenes.

But fear is a luxury I can no longer afford— not for myself.

Thank you Sarah for gifting me an eARC.

It took me a week to finally put my thoughts together for this post.

First, Parker has the most imaginative, artistic, stunningly beautiful way of describing human emotions. Her characters don’t just feel, they paint the pages with their emotions. This book absolutely broke my heart.

Orlaith destroyed me, completely gutted me, with her pain. I have never felt such anger and empathy toward a character before. For as much as I raged at her, I wanted to fix everything for her just as much. I just want someone to be real with her for once. This series takes the miscommunication trope and exposes it to nuclear waste. The fact that no one trusts Orlaith with her own history, facts she is not only owed, but entitled to, breaks my heart. She was set up for failure and even the reasoning from Rhordyn’s POV was not enough to convince me that all of the lies and omissions were worth it.

And speaking of Rhordyn, I realize he was put in a difficult situation when he essentially adopted his mate when she was a child, but man he really made almost every wrong decision. I’m not sure that the things he did right make up for the torment he put Orlaith through. I was so happy at the end when Mersi finally stood up to him about his treatment of Orlaith. He needed worse reprimanding, honestly. Even Orlaith’s stabbing him doesn’t seem like enough of a punishment. I want Orlaith to be happy, but more than that I want these characters to stop living in their heads. A lot of people praised Orlaith’s growth in this book, and I’m proud of her for the forgiveness she finds, but she needed to grow a lot more in my opinion. I don’t see how she and Rhordyn can make their relationship work, or band together to right the wrongs of their world when they still haven’t learned to tell each other the truth.

I am so scared for them.

Certain descriptors and analogies a little repetitive at times, chafing my brain. Exposition dragged out. But we’re learning and discovering and making the mistakes along with Laith. Somewhat confusing in places, haphazard in others. Rushed towards the end of book three, but overall still a great world and experience.
