I found this one a little hard to follow, but that may just be because it is my first manga. I also did not find the story all that intriguing in this first volume. I think I will still pick up the second volume and see how the story evolves. I have a lot of questions about the main characters pasts that I would like answered.

Good plot. Thoroughly enjoy the anime as well. And Sebastian is the hottest demon butler to ever exist ;)

A very unlikely butler in an interesting (though, confusing, as manga always is to me) story of him and the child he is servant to.

The drawing is marvelous, and the background drawings are often hilarious.

There is some language, including "the f-bomb" and "hell", along with some violence at the end. The book itself says on the back cover that it is for "older teens", and I would agree with that.

Overall, I enjoyed this, and I look forward to reading the next one!

Truthfully, I'm still working on fully understanding how to read Manga so I wouldn't trust my opinion yet, but I did enjoy this a lot and will be reading the next one.

Unread shelf project 2021: book 5.

A good start to a promising series, volume 1 was slightly disjointed during the first “episode” but improved in later “episodes.” Some of the disjointed nature was explained in the appendix regarding translation differences. Overall, very good, very absorbing and entertaining! I will definitely continue reading this series.

I will finish this later

The illustrations were gorgeous and really well detailed, though the in-between sketches were less detailed. The story was really well plotted, with excellent world building, good pacing, and a slow, gradual reveal of the secrets. Sometimes the text was confusing to follow, with so many extra notes and small text jottings in between the panels. I love how it builds up the butler duties, slowly going from the expected to the extraordinary. And the relationship between Ciel and Sebastian is beautiful, especially after the ring incident.
I can't wait to read more.
