This book was not supposed to take me 4 months to read. It was supposed to be a short a quick read that I could finish in 2 weeks or less. When I started reading I figured out that this is not a book to plow through. This is a book to ponder over and think about. A book to marinate on and put some thought into.
This book is filled with an immense amount of wisdom. It isn't hard to see why there spawned a whole religion off of this. This whole book is completely littered with anecdotes and words of wisdom and every day things that, if a person sits down and thinks on, are still going to be completely helpful today. One of the most quotable books that I've ever read. In fact, it was hard for me not to put constant updates on my Goodreads with all the little knowledge treasures found within.
Definitely a fascinating book. I'm super glad I read it. Be warned though, this is NOT an easy read. You will not slam through this and pull out all kinds of understanding. This book needs to be read a little slower and a little more deliberate. Sometimes you'll have to read sentences multiple times to try and reap the lesson or information held within its confines.

Definitely one of the most confuddling, confusing, confounding, quizzical, riddling, puzzling, perplexing, bewildering, paradoxical books I have read. I admit I do not understand the vast majority of what he is saying, and found it difficult to really access the book’s meaning on the first go round. Lao Tzu’s sprituality and wit tangle meaning in an intricate web of allegory and symbolism that make digesting each piece take a little more time than I initially thought.
