Such an important, heavy, heartbreaking book. Content warning/ trigger warning for anyone sensitive to discussing suicide or suicidality.

I really enjoy the writing style and the pictures in the book.

At first, I thought the pacing was a bit too slow, but it builds up the story beautifully. The ending was perfect, and the book has left me with a new perspective on life.

I think this is a book I will return to, maybe when someone I know has died and I need to get my mind of things. I know that sound sorrowful, but I feel like it’s a safety to have.

i do love this book a lot. i think it’s a very realistic depiction of the grief and trauma that comes after the suicide of a loved one. because of that, it was incredibly difficult to read. i also thought that the ending didn’t quite match the pacing of the beginning.
i wish that a little bit more time had been given to the phase of caitlyn’s healing where the allows other people in and lets herself be vulnerable. since the ending feels rushed, it doesn’t come across as hopeful as i think it was intended to be.

i really loved this book. it meant a lot to me from the mental illness pov, even the authors note kept me emotional and i never read authors notes. i could rly easily fall in love w the characters and could feel for their emotions and pain.

Whyyy was this the cover chosen for the storygraph book page, the limited palette cover I got from the library is so much prettier. Anyway.
Nina LaCour knows how to stab me in the heart. I loved We Are Okay and I loved Hold Still. I am always pulled into her worlds and her characters' minds. I love reading books set where I live but there's more to it than that. Her characters are human and flawed and always trying their best to be good people and find a way forward. On a lighter note, I now really wish I had a backyard big enough to build a huge treehouse.
