Ich musste mich teilweise sehr durch quälen, erst die letzten ~70 Seiten fand ich angenehm zu lesen.
Ich konnte die Gefühle und Reaktionen der Protagonistin nicht ganz nachvollziehen. Als sie erfahren hat, dass ihre Geschwister, die sie seit Jahren für tot gehalten hat und schrecklich um sie getrauert hat, doch plötzlich am Leben sind, hat sie meines Empfindens zu mild und unnatürlich akzeptierend reagiert.
Ebenfalls waren 3x frauenfeindliche Begriffe vorzufinden.
Zudem konnte ich mich nicht mit dem love interest anfreunden. Es fühlte sich in der ersten Hälfte so an, als wären die Situationen, wo Valea in Gefahr geriet, nur geschaffen worden, damit Nikolai sie retten kann.

I did sit down with this one in the bookshop and did read the first chapter. I like it. I bought it.
I guess this is where the nice things end.
The protagonist is so unbelievable naive. It is infuriating.
There has been sex scenes in this book.

of which I remember: (maybe mild spoilers)

They where not intimate, charming or whatsoever. It was just (close to non-consensual) sex scenes. The second time at a "timing" which made me consider to just dnf the book at this moment. I someone made it trough it...

Several years later I am very pleased to know, that there are a lot of authors being able to write nice/lovely/realisitic intimate scenes. This one is not one of them.

At least I got a first edition -fancy coloured edge- edition, which I was able to sell again.
The best thing about this book is the outside design, which sadly does not reflecte anywhere on the inside.
