I love Mrs. Reynolds book and have read most of her work. Until series is one of my fave series ever.
Now, this one was not so good for me. Why? Well this is one of those 'all nicely wraped books with a bow on the top'. The H was disgutingly perfect, something like alien-meet-unicorn-meets-Thor. The usual humor was lacking and h wasn't that funny as it was ment to be. I guess she was supposed to come of as corky but I didn't find her as such.
The plot was lacking also and you could guess it right away.
Sorry to say this one didn't work for me.

Talk about yum-my! Not only did the food and scrumptious sweets that Chrissie created make my tummy rumble, but Gaston was the delicious hero every woman weak for an alpha dreams of. He was sexy, gorgeous, intelligent, articulate, kind and caring, successful, and everything Chrissie could ask for. They meet and, despite Chrissie's reluctance to take a chance on potential heartbreak, he was relentless in his pursuit of her (which I loved). The development of their relationship was a lot easier than I expected, not counting the sliver of drama towards the end. Gaston and Chrissie's love was smooth, effortless and inevitable. Their chemistry was on point, there was very little angst, and the sex scenes were exactly what I was hoping for. No fade-to-black here people!! It's been a long while since I've read anything from ARR, but if this is the type of story I've been missing, you better believe I'll be going back for more!

Representation: M/M side romance, Gay supporting character

Overall: 3/5 stars

This was a super cute and sweet romance. Baiting Him is also an example of how current romance authors can create an Alpha Hero without him speaking over and/or for the heroine. Just a really great, feel-good romance with a HEA :).

Nov 3, 2020 Edit: What a difference a few months make! This used to be a 5-star read for me (back in January) and now it's barely a 3-star rating. My tastes in romance are definitely changing, seeing as I was in the mood (I am a mood reader) for a romance like this one. But, the story just missed the mark during this re-read (I skimmed and had to make myself finish it).

Safety Rating: Safe

• No cheating
• No OM/OW drama (but see note below)
Note: The woman who wants Gaston for herself is NOT an OW, she is just unhealthily obsessed with him and doesn't understand what the word 'no' means. The hero verbally shuts her down many times and makes sure she understands his boundaries. I thought this was a really great way of still having the trope of an OW wanting to steal the hero away but also showing the hero acknowledging his discomfort and setting boundaries.
• Does have the Heroine pushing the Hero away
• No separation

Possible Triggers:

• Parental abandonment
• Drugging

Endig:
HEA with Extended Epilogue

this book competes a book published in 2020 prompt

This book was full of surprises and I loved it people that are a fan of Beauty & The Beast will get a kick out of the main male characters name and his dog’s name

Aurora Rose Reynolds is known for her alpha male characters from the until series and the until her/him series and she doesn’t disappoint. If you haven't read the first book Catching Him please do and then read this one, i mean you don’t have to but it will make a lot more since.

Bland with nothing new

I perhaps should stop reading romance- the only thing working for this one is its less than 200 pages but it's still excruciating. If you have read any romance in the last few years you have read everything in this book. It's basically Hallmark meets 50 shades. Basic summary - story is about Chrissie who runs a pretty young but successful bakery, who meets Gaston , running a successful club, extremely handsome (mentioned a 1000 times along the way), falls madly in love and they live happily ever after. The book is as simple and bland as the summary. The "someone else" part doesn't even come in the last 30 odd pages! It's apparently a stand alone in the "how to catch alpha" series but nothing makes me read or be remotely interested in the universe. In the golden age of content comes this woeful contemporary romance- the extra star is because I basically got this book for free as a part of Goodreads giveaway. Best to be avoided- Life is too short and there's plenty of good stuff to read.
