The magic of The Chronicles of Narnia, and the magic of the real world.

This book is magical. Beautiful things can come from painful circumstances. I will read this book again, and again.

this is simply my favorite book. I laughed, I cried, I grew. it's a beautiful mix of tropes & themes: family, friendship, romance, dark academia, hopeful, emotional, spiritual. the personal growth in this story is so inspiring, & I underlined & highlighted so many beautiful moments. I love that each character is so uniquely *them*. you really get to know them & see them change too. I am looking forward to reading this many times in the future ✨

This story has me ready to go antiquing to find a very particular wardrobe. One that is 10 ft tall, with a beautiful oak door with a tree carved on the front. One that will hold all of my Christmas sweaters. Oh, and one that leads me to Narnia.

This is by no means a perfect book, but it's imperfect in a way I have a lot of patience for. There's a push/pull between Megs's story being a framing device for Lewis's tales of his life and having it's own depth and arc that didn't completely work for me. There are moments of beautiful descriptive writing, though, and observations on the creative process that are quite moving.
