I completely devoured this book.
The first book of the Soul Erosion series ended with a major cliffhanger, and left us with so many questions. So I was eager to start the second book and it really captivated me. I could have read this book in a day if I didn’t have other things to do, but still finished it in 3 or 4 days.
The Soul of Glass and Fire picks up the storyline right where we left off, and through the book we got all our questions answered, tho it also raised a few more.
But we are learning the reasons and causes along with Sophie, bit by bit, so the information never gets overwhelming. This way I was always at the edge of my seat, because I never got the full story only a bits of it here and there.
Sophie goes through an inevitable character development, and I think that was much needed, it also felt realistic, hence she doesn’t change dramatically overnight, it is more of her starting to notice her own flaws, things she need to work on and maybe even change about herself or her own ways. I also believe that a bigger change will awaiting in the third book.
And the chemistry that these two characters share, omg, and the sassy flirting…, I ate it up all. And I loved the two pov in this book too.
Definitely an enemies to lovers, slow burn romance, sprinkled with a bit of forced proximity.
This book made me feel all the emotions, the heartbreak, the fear, suffering, the healing and love, and heartbreak again.
When I reached the end of the book and I saw there’s only a few pages left and the main conflict is just growing by every page I’ve read I already knew that this ending will be even more frustrating than the first one, tbh I almost cried.
So in conclusion, I think you should really read this series. Like I said in the first book’s review, totally underrated, it needs more hype. Also I desperately NEED the third book.

*I received this book as an eARC by the author in exchange for my honest opinion. Thank you Arianne Nicks for the opportunity.* This review is written voluntarily by me, and is my honest opinion.
!!!This is my review of the second book in a series, so there will be some spoilers from the first book!!!
To be completely honest with you, I'm not sure how to review this book. I believe I should begin by saying something about the first one in the series; Soul of Light and Thunder. (The first book I bought myself to read before I started the second book, which I got for free).
Okay, so unfortunately I found the first book somewhat lacking. Arianne's concept is wonderful and shows a lot of promise, however, like with most debut novels, it's noticeable that this is her first. The writing felt choppy and I didn't feel a connection with the characters, which is very important to me. Nevertheless, the book is an easy read, so I had little trouble finishing it. SoLaT ends on a cliffhanger, and I'll be the first to admit that I was eager to find out what happens next.
Now to the second book; Soul of Glass and Fire:
Since the first book was the authors' debut novel, I figured I should give the second book a fair chance. Usually, writers find their rhythm and pick up tips from reviews of their first book. This was the case for Arianne Nicks too. The characters come more alive in SoGaF, which is a deeper and less staccato read. I loved Raiden in this book; he reads as a well-developed character, and his POVs truly improve the story itself. I still feel that I don't really know Sophie, though. I'm not sure what exactly is lacking for me, but I find that I don't connect with her. The world-building is all right; the story takes place in Chicago and Japan, but since I haven't been to either of those places I wish more details had been offered about them. I found the magic system fascinating and would have liked to learn a bit more about it, but that's just my obsession with magic talking.
Overall I got through SoGaF rather quickly and thought the story and action were interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed how the plot in this book was less predictable compared to SoLaT. With SoGaF Nicks establishes her pace and writing style, which greatly improved the experience for me! The cliffhanger is even more wild in this time around, and I have to admit that I'm curious to see where Arianne Nicks will take us in the next installment.

Finally - book 2! After the cliffhanger from book 1, I was anxiously waiting for the second book and it did not disappoint.
We get to know Raiden and his backstory which answers many questions that were raised in the first book. (He also is the most perfect book boyfriend ;)) Sophie undergoes a major character development, which was definitely necessary after how naive she acted in book 1.
And the slow-burn is sooo good ❤️
I can’t wait for the third part and hope Kane gets what he deserves!

I preferred book two to book one. Sophie gets a reality check at the start of this novel, and realised that she had previously been naive about a lot of things. Her guard is up and rightly so.
This book is a clean romance, so one of the attacks from the warriors was quite alarming but thankfully her true love was quick to her rescue before anything really happened. The almost horror is enough to raise her walls further. This forces the romance to be a slow burn.
We discover the true Kane in this book which answered a lot of my questions from book one. I wanted to know more about Raiden, and book two delivers. There is more magic as Sophie starts to explore the power of her Nexus connection and her own abilities.
The epilogue at the end, promises what I want for book three! With that, I see this series getting better and better.
