I was expecting more novella than full-length novel, but I loved it!

More enjoyable for plot and character than Maze Runner 2 and 3. The Kill Order was carried through much better than either Maze Runner sequel; it existed for more than added intrigue. The first interesting character relationships since the original book popped up in this - interestingly, the most significant of these relationships was not romantic, but that of a father and son. Alec and Mark move through the story as comrades and as family figures. This dynamic was central, and thus shaped the feeling of the rest of the novel. It especially brought to mind the absence of "real" family and the necessity of creating it, addressing an issue from the main series in which characters know they are more than subjects - they matter to someone.

This was not at all what I expected, for some reason I expected a story on Thomas' parents. However I did grow to really like Alec and Mark. I also now get why Theresa was the way she was and don't dislike her anymore. fitting "ending" or beginning to the story, but I would've liked more on Thomas and Theresa, not just a few pages at the end.
