This one was a little meh... I found it quite long and drawn out. Still, I adore Tori and I feel quite connected.

this book was alice’s first book, written when she was 17, which is very impressive given the fleshed out characters she has created in this universe. however, due to this being her first book the writing style, pacing, plot, were quite basic and at some times incomprehensible.
characters would seem to have arguments for no reason and immediately resolve them. toris mental health problems were not handled amazingly. the ending was absolutely ridiculous, and i was quite disappointed that we ended up with a love story when this was sold as anything but, leading me to believe at first that michael and tori would be platonic bffs, which i was excited to see.
but i still enjoyed it :) the fact that i got this out of the library to find something easy to read to ‘improve my mental health’ is sort of ironic as i think this maybe made it a bit worse as toris character was a bit too relatable, but michael as a character was really fun, and it was nice to see more of the heartstopper universe, even if this book seems totally incongruous with the heartwarming comics.
i look forward to reading some of alice’s other books!! i’ve got radio silence out the library too so that will be next :) anything to distract me from my exams ;-;

I wasn’t in the right mood for this book right now.
I have read/watched all of Heartstopper so far,,, and I have heard about Solitaire but truly nothing could have prepared me for this book. Poor Tori,, she deserves so much better...
3,5 (revised edition)
While i do adore most of the characters and the tie in with the rest of the osemanverse, the plot was kind of weird to me? Not much happened? What was the point of it all? (Spoilers: the school still burned down in the end and also the kiss felt unnecessary).
Still, I adore Alice's writing style and I will definitively go read the rest of the osemanverse books soon
