3.66 AVERAGE

This book was written with humor and love. Ave Maria is given a shock when she reads a letter her mother left to be received after her passing. This letter begins a journey in which Ave Maria finds herself and her heritage among other things. I laughed. I cried. Mostly I laughed. Will definitely read more in this series and by this author.

I really have enjoyed ready big stone gap series except now I am left to wait for one more in the series...I am definately going to read others that she has written

It was a cute little fluff book. It took me forever to finish because I had too many other goods books to read before worrying about finishing this one.

Not my style but turned out ok

This books is true chick lit. Nothing special, yet I found myself wanting to read to see what happens next. Not sure how I feel about reading the sequels, but I'll get around to it eventually.

I read this for my book club this month. Yes, somehow none of had read it or watched the movie prior. The majority of the ladies in my book club gave it a 3.5 rating but I’m sticking with a solid 3. A couple members have continued on with the series and one has since watched the movie (saying it wasn’t all that good). This is a “one and done” series for me though – I truly just thought it was OK. I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t anything special and I don’t feel the need to find out what happens next to the characters. Having said that, I do think this would be a good book to read when you are ready for something light and fluffy. Whether it is because there is just too much going on in life, you need a relaxing book, or you need something to help you recover from reading something dark…..this would be a good pick.

I think it's absolutely the most average book I've ever read.

It's neither good enough nor bad enough for me to get passionate about it; in other words it's average! The characters are average - not exactly boring, but neither did I really care what was happening to them. The writing is average and is pretty much contrived throughout the novel. I got the feeling that every single ""event"" was written just to give something for Ave Maria to compare herself against, or push against, and not with any care as to whether it fitted in to the story or the flow of the novel. To top it all, Trigiani herself even seems to have become bored with the writing and didn't even manage to conclude some of the storylines she'd started (the issue of Aunt Alice and the inheritance for instance). Maybe the open threads are left like that for the sequels, but as someone who isn't going to read the sequels, they just annoyed me!
