Something Like Lust
Chicago Grizzlies, Book 2
By: Piper Rayne
Narrated by: Aiden Snow, Stella Hunter

How can I not fall in love every time I pick up a Piper Rayne novel? She grabs my heart and keeps it in each book I listen. This one is no exception! Meet Damen. Football player who enjoys his one night stands. Adeline is just one of many, but she ends up pregnant. When he finds out, life is about to change, but is it for the better? Will these two ever get on the same page? Talk about fun! This one has it all. The love that flows each time Damen spoke to his daughter had me every time. The chemistry exploding between these two, so evident that everyone but one could see it. The vulnerability that holds Damen back. The strength Adeline has to do what she has to protecting her heart. The way Adeline handles his father and the obvious doubts that he has. The ability to express her feelings had the tears coming to my eyes and the result? Piper Rayne has a touch down! Loved every minute of this one and I can't wait to meet more members of the team!

Aiden Snow and Stella Hunter, two of my favorites team up for this fabulous listen. Snow is perfect as Damen. He is confident, and pulls out the charm and the fatherly feel. Adeline is a tough character, hiding some of her feelings in the beginning and Hunter is spot on with her narration. From pregnancy emotions to true love, she finds each feeling and makes it real. This collaboration is perfectly cast and a pleasure to hear.

Another Chicago Grizzlies has fallen for his match. Damon Siska has just found out he is going to be a father. In three months. From a one night stand. Adeline Morgan.

Adeline is a middle school teacher and 6 months pregnant when Damon finds out she is pregnant with his child. She had been too scared to tell him that when he actually finds out and is immediately involved everything starts to change. The pregnancy is no longer Adeline and the future baby. Now it’s Adeline, baby and Damon.

I understand why Adeline hesitated but when the truth is out, Damon was amazing to watch. Adeline had kicked butt doing it on her own and now with a partner she will be unstoppable. I loved the bubble that Damon created for them and how protective he was.
“He’s being protective, and it’s making me like him too much.”

When they started to spend time with Damon’s friends Adeline fit in so well! I love the addition of her to the Den crew and cannot wait for Cooper to finally realize what he wants in Something Like Love next!
Thank you @authorpiperrayne and @valentine_pr_ for the ARC!

Damon and Adaline was a fun, love filled story. I really enjoyed how much he was immediately enamored by his baby. He was gone for them almost immediately … well once he got past the freak out phase. I really enjoyed watching Damon and Adaline getting to know each other, work through their insecurities, watching Miles and Bryce, and integrate their families. This is one of the sweetest books I have read in a long time and it is a good fit in the series, I almost felt like we were back with Lee Burrows and that crew and made me want more. I really enjoyed this book and I hope you enjoy is as much as I did.

Received ARC in exchange for voluntary honest review from Piper Rayne and ValentinePR.

I enjoyed reading this second book in the Chicago Grizzlies series so much. The accidental pregnancy from a one night stand trope was done very well.

Adeline purposely doesn’t tell Damon he is going to be a father for several months after discovering she’s pregnant, she tells him her reasons and he seems accepting of her reasons. I had some unresolved questions about how Damon ended up getting a text from Adeline’s phone about the pregnancy if she didn’t send it and the other unknown sender’s motive.

Both Adeline and Damon grow so much during this charming and entertaining read. I loved how Damon was scared about being a father, yet he still stepped up and tried to be there for Adeline even when it made things more difficult for himself. He was awesome as a father!

Their relationship transitions from near strangers with a steamy one night stand in common to roommates/friends to co-parents and beyond. I loved seeing the gradual progression and the growing pains with each new phase of their relationship.

This built up my anticipation for the next book in the series featuring Cooper and Ellery. I love Piper Rayne’s writing style and storytelling - each book is unique, entertaining and attention grabbing!

I received a free ARC from the author and Valentine PR; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.

I always enjoy anything by this duo, especially a sports romance. Was curious how they’d reform the playboy, Damon, and I think they did it really well without it being focused on a family issue or a feeling that they’re unlovable.
I’m not one for the accidentally pregnancy trope. This does come out of a one night stand from the first book in the series where we meet Adeline. (We meet Damon in the Kingsmen series). They made it tolerable with a solid plot. I love how they normally have all the side characters in and out of the story, and that was a bit.

Looking forward to Cooper and Elllery’s story!
