Rayne delivers the right balance of adorable and tempting. Something Like Lust, brings heartache and humor to life. Snow and Hunter push emotions to the brink with their endearingly, delicious delivery. With surprise twists and steamy attraction, Adeline and Damon are the type of heartbreak, you can't put down.
In "Something Like Lust," the latest from Piper Rayne, readers are treated to a beautifully crafted slow-burn romance that spans a little bit of time as we go through Adeline’s pregnancy and then a few months after she gives birth. Damon, the playboy football player, and Adeline, the dedicated teacher, find themselves navigating the unexpected journey of parenthood after a chance encounter leaves them connected in ways they never imagined. I really enjoyed the pacing of their story. We start off with Damon finding out that Adeline is pregnant and we witness their journey of going from practically strangers to friends to co parents to lovers. The slow-burning nature of the romance allows the characters to evolve naturally, creating a sense of realism and depth that resonates with readers. Even though we have Damon the successful football player with all the money he could ask for, I think it was really impactful that he didn’t immediately force Adeline into his world and instead moves in with her at first. Damon goes from playboy to swoony dad and I. AM. HERE.FOR. IT!! Phew I loved watching him turn into this loving doting dad!
I love a good slow burn and the way this played out truly fit the storyline and what the characters were going through. With that said, there were still moments where I wanted to slap Damon and get him to realize his feelings. He was set in not wanting to be in a relationship but the more he welcomes Adeline into his life, and then eventually their daughter, the more he can’t help but fall in love with them. Damon had the most character growth in this story.
I loved seeing our other Grizzlies too. Miles & Bryce and Cooper & Ellery played an important part of the story and now I am ready for Cooper & Ellery’s story. I will say, I highly recommend reading, or even rereading, the novella On the Defense before starting this book.

Liked the character development but was annoyed with how slow this burn was. I liked the minimal drama and Adeline was more realistic than pregnant one night stands are portrayed for sure.

Solid 4 1/2 stars. This may be my first Piper Rayne book. I've heard the name out there in the book world, but never picked one up. I listened to the audio and what drew me to this was an accidental pregnancy and that the narration was duet. I enjoyed both narrators, and although the editing wasn't as smooth in some places as I've heard in other duets, I still enjoyed it. I will be checking out book 1 of this series now. I did not feel lost at all, but I didn't realize this was book 2 when I started this one.
