This was a SUPPPPPERR SLOW BURN, and it honestly lacked a bit of conflict for me. I did enjoy it, but I think my expectations were pretty high for this one. I love a reformed playboy.

ARC review

I was completely drawn into the whirlwind romance between Adeline, a relatable middle school teacher, and Damon Siska, the charismatic wide receiver with a playboy reputation. Their one-night stand unexpectedly results in pregnancy, leading them on a journey of self-discovery, love, and co-parenting. The story is a delightful blend of humor, warmth, and genuine emotion, making every moment between Adeline and Damon feel authentic and deeply touching. The evolution from lust to profound love is beautifully portrayed, offering a compelling take on the accidental pregnancy trope. This book is a testament to the unpredictable nature of love and the beauty of unexpected partnerships, leaving a lasting impression with its heartfelt and humorous storytelling.

I really enjoyed this one. I felt like it was better than the first one in the series. These are all quick, easy reads. Damon is playboy extraordinaire of the NFL and has a one night stand with middle school teacher Adeline. Lo and behold he finds out 6 months later that she’s pregnant. The two find themselves trying to figure out co-parenting and life with a baby. Damon is adamant about not wanting a real relationship too. It was pretty much day in the life until about 75% through before it got more heavy and emotional. All in all a good read!

It’s no secret to all Piper Rayne’s fans that Damon’s book has been the most expected of the series and, of course, it doesn’t’ disappoint. Actually, it was a lot more than I expected and I hope other readers fell the same way.
Damon being the rich playboy with an ego biggest than whichever state he’s in type since the moment we met him in False Start, it’s expected his fall is going to be a hard one and I’m a sucker for those characters. I have been referring to him as Dane 2.0 and he came through with flying colors when I learned that, once again, the biggest playboy had the softest heart.
After having a one-night stand with Adeline, a middle school teacher from a very small town, he finds out she’s now pregnant and our hero is not one to run from his responsibilities. Seeing him step up and being there every step of the way is the sexiest thing one can ever imagine and Adeline is not immune to any of it.
I loved the story, the way their relationship evolves and the influence of those secondary characters so important to build around them, but more than anything, my heart melted along with Adeline’s as the bond with their baby grows stronger.
Nothing I say can make justice to this book, only that once again the ladies have set the bar high and redeemed Damon in an amazing way. The only thing left to do is admit that #damonstolemyheart.

Something Like Lust is the second book in the Chicago Grizzlies series, but it can be read as a standalone.

Damon and Adeline had a one-night stand, and Adeline ended up pregnant. She didn’t tell him right away because 1) she didn’t know how to contact him, and 2) she was afraid of how he’d take it. But when he finds out, he’s there every step of the way.

This was different from other accidental pregnancy books I’ve read because usually, the FMC hides the pregnancy, the MMC finds out, they get closer throughout the pregnancy, and the baby is born at the end. This wasn’t like that. Adeline had the baby during the story, and they continued to get closer as they raised their child.

Now, Damon. He had a reputation, but he was very playful and didn’t give off a**hole vibes. He came from money, but he worked hard to make it into the NFL, and he’s the “golden child” in his family. (His brother is a disappointment to their parents, and I’m really curious about him, so I hope he gets a story.) Anyway, he’s so sweet, kind, flirty, and charming. He’s very protective of Adeline and his child. Seriously, it was just so cute the way he went all in when he found out Adeline was pregnant. And his protectiveness of his child? So f*cking cute. I know I already said that, but ahh, I swooned.

Adeline wasn’t going to hide the pregnancy, which made me like her. Also, she knew about Damon’s playboy ways, and she never let that deter her from forming a relationship with him. She was strong and stood up for herself, and she was mostly confident.

Of course, there were some sad moments as well. I felt so bad for Adeline, and Damon’s backstory was heartbreaking. But Adeline helped him heal, and she never judged him for anything in his past.

I loved seeing the other characters and how they all stood up for Adeline and tried to get Damon to get his head out of his a**. Seriously.

Anyway, this was such a cute accidental pregnancy, strangers to friends to lovers, football romance. It had hilarious moments, some angst, swoony moments, healing, and love. Now I cannot wait for Cooper’s story!

I loved this book! I really enjoyed his character and the surprise baby trope.

I am so in love with Damon. He's so witty and yummy. As soon as he gets the text from a one time fling Adeline stating he's going to be a father, he is all in. He is very surprised, to be sure, but he wants to be there for Adeline and their child.

Because he is a famous professional football player, his arrival causes quite a stir. He and Adeline decide that the best way to become successful co-parents would be to get to know one another. Damon moves in with Adeline during the off season to be able to take care of her...and so he doesn't miss any more of the pregnancy than he already has.

Despite her reservations, Adeline still wants Damon. But she doesn't know if Damon wants her near for herself or for their baby. Damon surprises Adeline with the dedication he has for their child. And when they decide to co-parent with benefits, he feels this is a win for everyone. Surely Adeline knows this is just a physical thing, right?

I sometimes wanted to shake Damon, but boy, I do love him. #Damonstolemyheart
