I am loving this series! I knew what Damon was going in, but reading that prequel, I knew I had to have this whole story. Adeline is not like all the girls he takes home, and she just wanted to let loose for one night, now she has a baby and will have Damon in her life forever.
Damon is a player in all senses of that word. We all know I don't love players, but I still liked Adeline so much in the prequel I felt like I would be able to handle this and I knew what I was getting into up front. Did I love him? No. Did I like him more as the book went on? Yes.
Damon, of course, had some trauma from when he was younger that prvented him from getting too close to anyone. I felt like I would have liked a little more about this and for him to get some actual help regarding it, but I also liked how he came to terms with how he had to change his way of thinking. Adeline was strong and was prepared to do this without Damon, but it was so sweet to see how he immediately stepped up. He knew she was different for him and although he fought it, when it really came down to it, they were just meant to be.

Book two in Piper Rayne's Chicago Grizzlies series was another great book in this series. I adored Damon and Adeline's relationship. When Damon found out he was going to be a dad with a woman he barely knows he seriously stepped up. He had enough money he either could have just been a jerk about the money or used it to get full custody but he didn't. Though, let's be honest it wouldn't be a good romance if he was like that unless he was just the ex you want gone not the male lead. But still I appreciated that Damon was truly a good character, when in the previous book he was just a player. And Adeline was just the sweetest, she might have not expected Damon to be in her and her baby's life but she fully excepted this essential stranger completely into her life and even changed her life to make life easier for Damon.
The one thing that I just felt was a little messy was the beginning, and even Piper wrote in their "Cockamamie Unicorn Ramblings" (aka their closing thoughts of the book) they said that the early chapters were hard to write because they were virtual strangers. Also from what I could tell you never find out how Damon found out about Adeline and the baby. Yes he received a text message from her saying she was having the baby but Adeline said she never texted him and it's never addressed (unless I just missed it) who actually sent the message, so this kinda bothered me throughout.

Something Like Lust is such a fun and quick little read about professional football player, Damon, and the consequences of a one night stand with middle school teacher, Adeline.
This book was so much fun to read and I loved how Damon immediately went into action when he realized he might have a baby out there. Of course there were annoying little moments considering Damon comes from old money but this book quickly took on SUCH a sweet tone. He wants to be as much help as possible and takes on the role of dad so easily, it’s adorable!! I loved the real concerns of Adeline’s that were mentioned because that’s real world, right? She wanted to protect her daughter and herself, which any strong mama would do.
When their daughter, Clover, makes her entrance into the world, these two fit their lives together so easily, it’s obvious they’re perfect for each other. The little family of three they made in such a short time was seriously too much sweetness. This quick love story had its ups and its downs and frustrating moments but the supporting characters made sure Damon and Adeline didn’t let something amazing slip through their fingers.
If you’re ready to swoon over some manly football player obsessing over his daughter and ready to be a multiple time girl dad, then Something Like Lust will have you blushing from start to finish!! Thank you so much to ValentinePR and the author for gifting me this ARC
