I was really looking forward to this book and it did not disappoint. I love how character driven this storyline was. But I was also very interested in the ring as both a metaphor and a real object. It’s journey was an interesting one too!

Lizzie and Ritchie’s adult children have just found out their mother’s beloved Diamond ring was in a safety deposit box in the Cayman Islands. How did it get there? Why did no one know about it?

The ring had an interesting story. No one in the family thought it was still around. One said it was gambled away, one said it was stolen, another thought their mother put it in their father’s casket. There’s truth to each of these stories. It’s a lot of fun to read this story to find out how that’s even possible.

Lizzie fell in love with Ritchie the minute she was him, it was love at first sight for her. She was only 16 and he was dating her older sister. But there was never anyone else for Lizzie. She was a hopeless romantic and always enjoyed stories about Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, “Lizzie and Ritchie” had an extra layer of magic for her.
After Ritchie and Lizzie’s sister broke up, Lizzie didn’t see him again for 9 years.
Ritchie didn’t recognize her, she was an adult now. This time Ritchie did fall for her and everything changed from that point on.

Lizzie and Ritchie didn’t have the easiest relationship but they had a strong love. Ritchie had a gambling problem. He even lost their house gambling. This is when Lizzie left Ritchie for 9 months. They got back together and soon had a third child.

Their three adult children are now disagreeing over what to do with the ring. It symbolizes different things to each child.

My only minor constructive criticism is that I felt like Addy’s teenage daughters were given storylines that added drama to the story but did not actually resolve themselves. The dramas more suddenly disappeared than actually resolved.

I enjoyed this book a lot. The characters had good stories and I loved the mystery of the ring.

When this book came across my email I knew I needed to read this book. I immediately requested it and couldn’t wait to read it. I have never heard of this author before and was excited to discover a new author.

First of all, I did NOT finish this book. I read 20% of it and could not finish it at all. So what I am reviewing is what I have read. A group of siblings have grown apart. One is a black sheep and lives across the country from the other siblings. Their father dies and they get notified that he had a secret bank box in the Cayman Islands. They have to go and get retrieve it. I did not like this book at all. I was at 20% and I had yet to find out anything about the Liz Taylor ring. I did not like the main characters at all. I thought that they were snobbish and just rude. The one sister that wasn’t snobbish just seemed like she was trying too hard to be a black sheep or something.

I really wanted to like this book but I just couldn’t get into it. I tried to start and stop it a few times thinking maybe I was not in the right mind to read it but each time I was unable to get into it each time. I don’t know what it was about it. The book was boring and just didn’t hold my interest at all. The characters were not well-liked and they weren’t well developed in my opinion. Read the book and make your own decision and maybe eventually I will try and finish the book but I can’t promise anything.

I wouldn't say I liked all the characters, and there were too many different POVs and time jumps.
