Difficult to put down, this fast-paced novel alternates between the present and the past, revealing events that have shaped Katherine's life. Compelling reading. I'll definitely read other work by Rebecca James.

It's a gruesome and truly disturbing book. I felt very much shaken after finishing the book. It's like the tragedies in Katherine's life can never stop! Just when she found a happy ending with Mic, Alice killed him. My gosh, I don't think I'll ever read this book again. Don't get me wrong, Rebecca James is a great author, but the story is just too overwhelming for me.
So this was an assigned reading for my english class and I have to say that I really enjoyed this book. The writing was excellent, the plot twists were nicely done and there are so many life lessons in this book. Overall this was a really good read. :)

I feel like this book was far more depressing than i expected. even though usually i do enjoy sad books that make me question basically everything, this one just made me wary of every character and the over dramatic things that they did. I suppose the ending was meant to be uplifting and give you a sense of 'moving on'/getting on with your life, but i was just to drained from reading the rest of it to be happy.
