very mixed opinions on this. there were parts of it i really liked - nesta's character development, the romance, baby nyx, the plot twist towards the end - and parts of it i really didnt - for example theres quite a lot of sexism in this one from rhys and cassian id say which is disappointing, the 3rd person pov, the lack of an interesting plot for most of the book to say its so long. so i feel like a 3.75 is probably a fair placement for this book? idk im really torn. id give it 4 stars but that feels too generous. i still really love this series, just in my opinion whilst acosf has its positives it just doesnt measure up to the rest of the books at all

I really struggled to get into this book because Feyre is no longer the main character, instead it's Nesta. We get a bit of  a glimpse of post-war Nesta in a Court of Frost and Starlight, but we really get to see who Nesta is in this book. It took about 200 pages at least for me to really begin to enjoy the book, because Nesta is just SO miserable in the beginning. However, I think it's really important for the readers to understand that Nesta isn't mean and miserable and defiant because she wants to be, but because she's really struggling with her own mental health, and is afraid to let anyone get close again.
Once I got into this book, I began to INHALE it. The reintroduction of the Valkyries? Hell yes. Empowering battered women to be able to stand up for themselves and defend themselves if needed? Loved it. The very spicy scenes and the love interest? I'm drooling. The plot was amazing, with Rhys, Feyre, Cassian, and Azriel recovering from the war, only to find a new enemy and artifacts, which only Nesta has the power to find. That was a brilliant way to bring Nesta into the fold of the court, even begrudgingly, and to enable the court to begin to see her in a new light.
No worries for anyone who is afraid that Feyre won't be present in the story, she definitely is, but is more of a side character here. But she is still present and as lovely and lovable and fierce as ever. I'm super excited for the next book and what new perspectives that offers.

I really loved the love story but I think the plot was a bit lacking, it was resolved too quickly and too easily, the author made the characters too strong, never allows them to loose or die, it lacks that tang of sadness that comes with character death.

OH??? MY???? GODDDDDD??????????? i am so unwell. i am CRYINGGGGG in the airport right now. the ending of this book makes me want to scream and cry with joy like i have no words for what to put here. this is genuinely one of the best books i’ve ever read. at first, i was a little nervous because the main focus wasn’t on feyre and rhys, it was on feyre’s firey sister who i never really liked UNTIL NOWWWW. nesta was such a baddie and i absolutely adored her development throughout this whole book. i cannot count on the fingers of both hands of mine the amount of times i slapped my hand to my mouth out of surprise due to a plot twist, or a sad moment, or a feisty comment by nesta. sarah j. maas put her whole soul into this book and we LOVE HER FOR ITTTT!!! i felt every single emotion possible in this book, which was such a pleasant surprise considering my original biases going into it! absolute 100/10 recommend and READ THIS ASAP AND LET ME KNOW WHAT YOUR THOUGHTS AREEEEE!!!!!

I enjoyed the change of authorial voice in the novel, as much as I adore Feyre, I felt her tale has concluded in a way that suits her, and it gives us a chance to interact with the extended circle in a more interesting way.

When we initially meet Nesta, she seemed to be shown as an antagonist in Feyre's eyes, and I felt there was more to her than her fights with her youngest sister. I'm glad I was right, because her sarcastic and cynical attitude was a fun change, as well the addressing of her own trauma was done in a very respectful way.

When reading the second book, I knew Cassian and Nesta were either "gonna fuck, become unwilling companions, or maybe be friends..." and I hit the nail on the head with each of those.  Watching them interact within the series was both frustrating at times, but being the first two throw themselves into the line of fire for the other left no doubt in my mind they were connected.

The gratuitous sex scenes were not what I was here for, but the slowly blossoming friendship between them was. When Nesta finally allowed herself to release her trauma she held in, and Cas just held her, I nearly cried.

I also adored the friendship between the Valkyries, they are so damn precious and I hope future installments feature them. Especially with the way both Gwyn and Emerie seem to have either caught the eye of the inner circle, or have been the one who's attention has been grabbed (I see you Emerie).

Don't even get me started on baby Nyx and the Bat Boys™️ crew, I can't wait to see him interact with his family, and see the future they are trying to secure for him.

I did find the ending lacking something, almost as though Nesta's tale felt incomplete. Her sacrifice of power to save Feyre and Nyx (and spare herself a similar fate with birthing a winged babe) was heartwarming, but I felt Nesta deserved a little more.  I hope she get a chance to get that in future installements.

I think it's hard to address such a sensitive topic, but as someone who also experiences PTSD, I felt for Nesta. She didn't want to be a burden, but at the same time she was causing her own destruction.

The book places a heavy emphasis on platonic, romantic and familial love. Sorrow and grief cannot truly be cured or contained, but rather they can be tended to and lessened by those you surround yourself with.

It was a lovely read, and I will very much miss Nesta's snark and quick wit that the Archeron sisters all share.

I’m speechless. A Court of Silver Flames was so good. Watching Nesta and Cassian’s transformations honestly made me cry and watching Feyre & Rhy’s struggles pulled at my heart. I wish there had been more Mor & Az appearances, I also think Elain could have been more present. The spice was unbelievably good. All in all, I could have used more plot, but honestly Sarah J. Maas did not let us down.

I absolutely adored A Court of Silver Flames. It’s not my favorite book of the series but I still love it.
Nesta is auch an interesting character and though I know I know a lot of people don’t like her, she’s grown to be one of my favorites. The whole time I knew there was way more beneath her shell than she was letting everyone see and I think this is a big part why I can relate with her and enjoyed reading her and Cassian’s story.

(!minor spoilers only in the next paragraph!)
———————
After so much plot in the house of wind in Velaris I wished to see more of Nesta’s and Cassians hiking trip through the mountains after they reached the lake. In general I wish there was more of them together after everything’s settled.
I loved to see Nesta’s emotional development and how the focus was on her inner troubles and how she struggled with herself.
Literally the only thing I didn’t like was Mor‘s absence because I love her and the whole group dynamics so much and just wish there would’ve been more of that.
———————

I don’t even know what else to say about this book apart from again emphasizing how much I loved it. I missed Velaris and the Inner Circle so much and even though the atmosphere was different than in the first books I loved to be back with my favorite characters.

I just finished reading this and I have to say I loved the ending. Still I cannot give it more than 4 stars just because the beginning was so boring. I would say the first 200 pages I just had to get through to get to the good stuff, the great writing I'm used to with SJMs books.

This book definitely did not disappoint. I loved so many parts of it and I even grew to like Nesta. I guess it's important to add that I did not like her at all! Even during the first 200 pages I thought she was just incredibly annoying and frustrating. But I loved her growth!

My favourite part about the book was Nestas friendship with Emerie and Gwyn. I love strong female friendships in books and this one was just phenomenal!

Also I was worried that this book might be a but too smutty for me but it really wasn't. I mean don't get me wrong there is a lot if smut and it's quite excessive. I would still have liked the book better with less smut but at least it didn't make me uncomfortable. It was woven into the story in a way that made sense and it didn't hinder my enjoyment of the story.

One thing that bothered me a bit was the POV though. We only got to see through Nesta and Cassians POV and I'm just too attached to the rest of the Night Court (especially Feysand). I wish we got to see some things from their perspective as well.

Edit: I can't stop thinking about this book. The story was more important to me than I even realised while initially reading it. I definitely want to reread this book and it is one of my all time favourites. It is difficult because the beginning is really slow and 3-4 stars but the majority of the book is really great so I'm gonna change the rating to 5 stars for now. Maybe if I reread it I might change it again.
