You know what? I think I'm just going to read all the Kennedy Fox books now. There so damn addicting!

Another great romance from the ladies that make up Kennedy Fox! This book had great character development as in the beginning, Alex seemed like an immature committment-phobe. I don't want to give any spoilers, but by the end of the book he is a completely different person in many ways. Cowboys aren't usually my thing, but he had me swooning so hard! I loved all the Bishop brothers that make an appearance in this book and can't wait for the next book! I will say though, Jackson is my main man... he was so funny! I'm already calling dibs!

3.5*
Can authors stop using the overly used "antibiotics canceled out my birth control" storyline?
It makes it seems like a) women can't read warning labels and b) they all have incompetent pharmacists.
Also, tons of studies have disproven that interaction.
I reluctantly kept reading after that point. I hope for originality in the books I read but they are starting to be predictable and regurgitated storylines.

Kennedy Fox – Taming Him (Bishop Brothers, #1)

I’ve been postponing reading this book for quite some time. Partly because I couldn’t get through any books I haven’t read so far and partly because I didn’t want this book to disappoint. But man was I wrong in this case, as I should’ve known, being familiar with Kennedy Fox’s books. She never disappoints. Never.

I already read her previous books, The Checkmate duet series, all six of them, and loved every single one. One more than the other, but hey, that’s always the case with books. Because these books were so amazing, I was dreading to read the Bishop series. Partly because it would be all over, partly because it couldn’t get any better. Now I’ve learned Kennedy Fox is very stable in her/their writing.

Did it get better than the Checkmate duets? No. Was it just as good? Yes, absolutely. It's definitely a recommendation from me.

Kennedy Fox doesn’t disappoint in this book. It’s a classic romance book. You’ll fall in love with all the characters, one by one. There’s great family moments that had me tearing up sometimes and it has a lot of funny moments in it. Absolutely a great book. But, sometimes it all felt a little too clichéd, as the author writes down herself, because the word does come up a couple of times in the book. Also, you can see the plot coming from a mile away. Nevertheless, I loved reading it, and it definitely made me very eager to read the second book in this series.

If you love hot and steamy books, this is one you should have on your TBR.

4/5 stars.

I'm not one that is big on the Cowboy Romance, but after reading this I will definitely be reading more from this series.
Alex was perfect. In fact I want myself an Alex in my life. His mama raised him right. And his brothers are looking to be great characters for future books in this series.
River is a character that has her insecurities when it comes to life and love. And you find yourself pulling for her to see that what she has been missing is a southern gentleman.
The chemistry between Alex and River is perfect. But, I don't expect anything less from the duo that is Kennedy Fox.

Kennedy Fox is one of those authors — or duos, I suppose — who has been on my TBR for ages. I keep seeing her cowboy series everywhere and, each time a new book is released I think "I really should read one of her books!" Well, I finally decided to do just that. I thought Taming Him was quick and sexy, an easy read.

If I gave half stars, Taming Him would definitely get a 3.5 star rating from me. But, I don't deal in half stars and I couldn't quite bump it up to 4 stars. It was an enjoyable read. I'm intrigued by the Bishop Brothers. But, I had a bit of a tough time really connecting to either of the main characters. In fact, I found some of the brothers far more intriguing than Alex. Of course, I'm not always a fan of bragging manwhore type characters, so it's quite possible he and I just got off on the wrong foot. He ended up being swoonier than I originally thought, but it took awhile for me to get there with him. River was easier for me to relate to, but I didn't ever truly connect with her.

Regardless, I liked River and Alex and their story. I'm a sucker for a southern accent and I enjoy a good expiration date story. I enjoyed the, ahem surprise, that happened midway through the book, even if I saw it coming a mile away. Taming Him had some sweet moments — and some downright hot moments — but I was missing the feels I get when I really connect with characters. It was a good read — and I plan to continue with the series — I just didn't love it the way so many of my fellow readers did. Of course, I just came off an amazing streak of five star reads — the last of which gave me a wicked book hangover — so this could definitely be a case of "it's not you, it's me."

I received a complimentary copy of this book for review consideration. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

FAVORITE QUOTES

"River, baby. I don't need easy. Hell, I want crazy and everything that it entails. As long as it's with you."

I have to be honest and say that I never expected to read a cowboy romance, it’s not typically my thing but I am so glad I did! I was invested from the very beginning, and the characters are so easy to love. The men in Kennedy Fox books will make you weak in the knees. This was SPICY!!

While this is a stand-alone romance, it is part of a series and you will absolutely want to read about the other characters after reading this one! I am so excited to read all about the Bishop brothers now! Even if you think you don’t want a cowboy in your life, you’re sadly mistaken!! You won’t be disappointed!

We start with a 12 year past memory of River. Who is River? Where is he? Who is he there to see? Who are Alex, Dylan, and Rylie? What do we learn about each of them? Who are Natalie and Adam? Who is Jackson? How do two others feel about Jackson? Who is Evan? What is happening on this day? Why does the fence need to be fixed? Who is Kiera? What is Evan's day ob? Where do we find River at inthe present day? What is she doing for work? I think I like Natalie for her no filter attitude. I have my cuiosities about Adam. Where do Natalie, River, Adam, Dylan, and Alex all end up going, separateliy or together? Why/ what happens when Dylan and Alex go out on an adventure for the day? After everyone goes home, what prompts River to visit a B&B in Texas? What happens when she does? Oh GOODNESS! The ending was NOT expected!!!

I think that this book started out fun and cute but started to turn monotonous towards the halfway point. Also, someone else pointed out how many times characters "wink" and I started to realize it and began to just roll my eyes because how many times can one do that?!

Anyway, Alex is a playboy and River is a nurse who tried not to let herself fall into the arms of another man after finding out that her ex was married to someone else. Alex is a cowboy from Texas and River winds up pregnant after they have a whirlwind romance. Alex doesn't find out until she reaches out and heads to Texas to find him. I think that Alex is written so perfectly and in a way that is so unrealistic that he seemed fake. River is hesitant and reserved but opens up to Alex's world. There isn't anything that big that really builds anything up. I don't really know why Crazy Carly would be introduced for one scene only for River to feel secure in her relationship with Alex. I think that Alex and River kind of plateaued in the way that their relationship evolved. Overall, it was an okay book.
