I really didn't enjoy this story very much at all.

It felt thrown together and there was no chemistry between the characters.

There was no character development, the side characters were forgotten until they were needed to push the story in any direction but we're not explored.

The epilogue was only written to introduce the next book of characters. This could have been wound into the story itself and would have felt a better connection to the characters.

The only reason I listened to the entire thing was because of Joe Arden being the voice for Alex.

While this one was a little slow to start for me it definitely made up for it. I loved the twist and turns. River and Alex are so sweet together

I love surprise pregnancy trope and I looooove this series

Audiobook

The story started off so strong and then it started to drag a bit. I loved the building of their relationship, but felt that River was a weak character. Not because of all her insecurities! I actually enjoyed reading a character with real insecurities, but felt that she caved many times and was easily making changes in her life without any issues. Even later in the book when there’s a little conflict she easily forgives and that’s it. Alex was the typical cowboy, but apparently had sex with all the women in this town? River has one moment of insecurity about that and again it’s quickly resolved. Not a bad story, but I wasn’t super invested.

Narration was 4-5

It didn't take me that long to read this book, I mean it's Kennedy Fox book. How could I not put it down?! lol This book is currently on Amazon for free, so get your hands on it while you can!
I have listened to a few of Fox's books on Spotify, her Bedtime Reads *chef kiss*! And those have characters that cross over, along with settings that cross over as well. Which I liked!

Okay, on the my thoughts! I thought this was a cute, funny and spicy story. I loved River and Alex's personalities, I loved how they got along very well right off the bat. Well other than her shooting him down right at the beginning lol You could say there was a bit of back and forth between them, but I didn't see it that way! (I normally don't add too much about the story, but just to give some context lol) When they went their separate ways after vacation and she didn't contact him for three months then showed up in Texas, you could say that was a bit back and forth. But in reality they didn't leave vacation as a long distance couple, it was just a hook up. So I didn't see it as a messy relationship.

They both had their insecurities, but I like how confident Alex was with his feelings towards River. I really enjoy a straightforward male, that speaks his feelings towards the one he loves and isn't driven by his "manly" ego.

This definitely was a love at first sight, in my opinion. But they did have to work on their relationship since they had a baby coming together.

I enjoyed how family orientated the Bishop's are and how these stories are following this family. It just brings that connection with the characters I like! I like falling in love with the characters authors create!

The only thing I will say is I felt that in some situations things were rushed where they didn't need to be. I'd say this was a shorter book, which I love. But I feel like some things were rushed when it came to the details so it made things seem more cheesier than they should've? If that makes any sense! lol

Overall I loved this book! I'm giving this 4.5 out of five! Excited to read more of the Bishops!

I received an arc of Needing Him, the second of the Bishop boys series and was told that I should read the first book first. After reading, I’m glad I did because I got a feeling for the Bishop family from that first book. The book was a little heavy going at first, because it was establishing the setting for the series. The language was a little stilted and heavy and the dialogues didn’t read real. However, at the book progressed, it improved a lot and I got invested into the story.

There are four Bishop boys and one girl , Evan is the oldest and a doctor. Then there are identical twins Jackson and John, total opposites in characters, one is serious and the other is a daredevil, and the youngest is Alex, the protagonist in this book. The Bishop girl, Courtney is already married and expecting triplets. There’s another cowboy that spends almost all his time in the Triple B ranch, Dylan. Alex and Dylan are best friends since they were babies and they are the real double trouble. Dylan won a contest and the prize was two weeks all expenses paid at a resort in Key West. Since he’s not a manwhore like Alex is, he didn’t have any girlfriend to invite, so he invites Alex to come as a wingman and help him find a woman. A little pathetic, but Dylan is sweet and shy, not outgoing and cocky as Alex.

River is a nurse in the pediatric intensive care unit of the Milwaukee Children’s Hospital. She just ended an affair with an asshole when she learned he was married. Then she found him with her roommate. This convinced her to go on vacations with her best friend Natalie and her boyfriend. They all went to Key West for a two-week vacation.

The way River and Alex meet was the cheesiest scenes I’ve ever read. Alex tries a pick up line with River and she shots him down without mercy. They really connect later, when Dylan has an accident and River helps. River’s friend Natalie does a lot of matchmaking to push River into Alex’s arms. To be truthful, I found Natalie to be very disagreeable, always drunk, loud, opinionated and interfering. However, her feelings were in the right place and she wanted to help her friend find love.

In Alex and River’s story, Alex fell in love fast and he was pushing for a relation. River was not convinced. She lost her sister to cancer when they were little and this was what motivated her to pursue a career in nursing. Then her parent’s marriage failed and she doesn’t have a great relation with them. She doesn’t have a lot of faith in marriage. She’s very guarded and uptight, according to Natalie. However, once she’s forced to visit Alex in Texas, she’s captivated by the small town atmosphere, the Bishop family dynamics, their way of life and the caring that everyone feels, even with such an active gossip mill. There’s a lot of goodness going around and it feeds River’s soul. I loved the Bishop family system, it’s a matriarch. Mama Bishop rules and her word is the law. Papa Bishop may be a dictator with his boys but with Mama Bishop he’s a kitten LOL. Even so, Mama Bishop is a caring and generous woman who will help anyone in need. Her house is a refuge of love and understanding for River, who finds a family she needed so sorely.

The love story is lovely, but what I loved the most is the family story. The support and the scrabbling and insulting and loyalty that the Bishop siblings have. The authority and support of the parents. The community that rallies around a person in need. All the small town feelings. And I loved the side story of Dylan and his barracuda girlfriend Jessica. Poor guy!

Good way to start a series. Alex is the youngest Bishop brother and they are a hand full. River is a like able heroine.

Alex and River are from completely different worlds. Alex is all Texas southern boy and River is all northerner. They meet when they are both on vacation in Key West. River thought the cowboy was extremely handsome and Alex though she was drop dead gorgeous but she wasn’t easily falling at his feet like every other woman.

He had his work cutout for him with her but then she caved. These two together were explosive. They couldn’t get their hands off each other. Then the time came that they both left without saying goodbye.

Fast forward three months later when River unexpectedly shows up in Texas to see Alex. He was livid at first because she left before saying goodbye and then he was excited she was there. She was all he dreamt about since meeting her in Key West. When she told him the reason she was there his reaction was priceless. Alex showed how much of a gentleman he is.

Things were going great between them. There was one very insignificant hiccup that didn’t lead to much. Now it’s never a dull moment with the Bishops and they are many laugh out loud moments. It was good seeing a little bit of Courtney.

Great way to start the series lots of laughs, little bit of tears and very little drama. I can’t wait for Evan story because he’s the most serious out of all and it will be interesting to see his feathers ruffled.

Taming Him

*received an arc in exchange for an honest review**

5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It’s time for some hot Southern Men and the Bishop boys are here. The duo of Kennedy Fox brings Alex Bishop into their newest book and he is one hot cowboy. Taming Him is sexy and flirty and will have you wanting a Bishop for yourself. Kennedy Fox has a way of making you feel apart of the book and it’s easy to not want to put it down.

The dynamic between Alex and River is great and you can’t deny the sexual tension between them. They will have to navigate their way not only through their time in Key West, but will also have to figure out how to continue after Key West. Not everything will be easy but together they might just figure it out.

Once again Kennedy Fox proves why they are an amazing writing duo. If you are a fan of their previous series, you will fall in love with this book.

Giddy Up!

Sign me up for another cowboy romance please! Alex was so very swoon worthy. River is an amazing name and a wonderful heroine. Very guarded but wanting love and security deep down and Alex certainly provided that. Four and a half stars for this book!
