I learned a lot from this book and I can’t stop thinking about it. I have so much more to learn and I’m curious to keep expanding my education on everything she mentioned. She connects so many disparate thoughts into one powerful theme and movement that now make sense all together but didn’t before.

This is the first book I've read on Palestine and I wished I had saved this for later. It was an excellent primer on intersectionality and Davis does an excellent job of demonstrating the link between Palestinian oppression and US police brutality. I wanted more history and context, but I think Davis' audience had a better understanding of Palestine than I do.

Read November 2024
A collection of interviews with, and speeches by Angela Y. Davis. Not all of the information was new to me, but it’s always good to revisit and remind myself of what I’ve learned before. I also own her autobiography and reading this collection has made me even more interested in reading that one. (hopefully soon🤞)

The information in the book was extremely informative. However, the way the book was set up made it difficult for me to get through.
A must-read because the info is a must-know.

Great collection of speeches and interviews. Made it very helpful to start understanding collective solidarity across transnational boundaries and why that’s so important, and also the degree to with movements are not made by individuals. We have such a tendency to want a “hero” figure when affecting change but even when there have been those “heroes” they’re always on the shoulders of collective movements.
