Exactly what I needed after a tricky week. It's amazing how many things I had forgotten about this book, and how many of my ideas about the world as a child were shaped by it.
i've just realized i've never added this book, which is so blasphemous. this was literally one of my favorite books as a kid, alongside harry potter. i tried to move things telepathically like matilda after i read this.

ahhh i loved this quick read!! matilda is such a smart and kind human being. the storytelling is great. i enjoyed this so much (i probably smiled all the way through) and i am not even in the target group for it.
maybe i would have liked a little more depth to some characters, but really i shouldn’t complain since it’s a childrens book

Sometimes when classics have been made into movies, I forget how genius the whole plot is in the first place. This story is well-told and is a great story for whimsical kids like Matilda, or any kid for that matter. It is worth the read! And how fitting I apparently finished it on National Book Lover's Day ❤️📚
