I had high hopes for this book—the premise was really cute: a woman accidentally picks up the wrong suitcase and starts imagining that the mystery owner might be her soulmate. Honestly, that sounded like a romcom dream. But… nope. This one didn’t work for me at all.
First of all, it’s painfully slow. I kept waiting for something to happen, and the pacing just dragged. Then there’s the main character, Lara. I’m sorry, but she was driving me up the wall. She’s supposed to be a grown woman, but her whole thought process felt really childish. She keeps chasing this idea of “instant love” because she believes that’s how her parents fell in love—and now she’s trying to force that narrative onto every random encounter. Like, girl, chill. You cannot fall in love with every man you bump into at a café.
The part that made me finally put the book down was when she tried to track down the suitcase’s owner. Instead of following reasonable steps, she basically turned it into a dramatic “mission”. The airport staff told her she couldn’t be given the person’s information (fair enough, for privacy reasons), but she still pushed ahead like she was in a spy thriller. I just couldn’t take it seriously.
I DNF’d at around 14%. Maybe the story picks up later, but honestly, I was already annoyed and disappointed. I wanted something that would lift my mood, but this just added to my irritation. Cute concept, but the execution really let me down.

Was really loving this until maybe the last 1/5 where it derailed a little for me. The first 4/5 reminded of me a Sophie Kinsella novel—funny and tender. But as it went on, got a bit less funny and took her a bit too long to catch on to what she’d found. Definitely made me want to visit the channel islands!

A sweet book about “meet-cutes” and realizing that the point of love isn’t just for the “happily ever after” but for all the small moments in-between, too. One of my favorite quotes: “Maybe life’s more about carving out happy chapters than finding a single happy ending.” Kablammo. ❤️
A fun summer read. Comedy of errors that made me laugh. I did enjoy the easy read.
