Aaaahhhhh this was really good, got me pretty hooked! 

Two rival families, the De Luca's have cursed the Barrions and as a consequence, the De Luca's magic has been bound. The main characters are a lad from each family, and Penny, whose mum has fallen victim to the Barrions' curse.

I really loved the characters and the story was engaging! There's a little bit of romance, but that's mostly in the background and it's not the main part of the story. Which I'm glad of, I didn't want to read a book with a ton of romance.

Some parts were predictable but you know, that's fine, it was a fun easy read! It's a solid YA fantasy and I'm looking forward to the next book!
