ugh i love rereading this series it's such a childhood fav of mine..... we get multiple moments of alex trying to go back to school..... multiple moments where alex thinks ab killing himself/letting himself be killed............. he has the range and even tho i still wish mi6 got more held accountable for what they've done to alex i'm just glad alex has come out of this book on more even footing w them......
this whole series has some very problematic aspects to it but one that was prevalent in this book was a character who has vitiligo being spoken about in some racist and gross ways which was. no.

i would have rated it 1.5. Review edited I liked this book a lot more since the first time I have read it.

Some would say this is the best book in the series so far, and I would pretty much agree. It’s such a significant book in the series because it’s a lot more deep and emotional. Alex’s character growth is phenomenal and some very important details are finally cleared up. This is probably tied with Skeleton Key for me, but obviously for different reasons. Bring on the next one!
AHH I REVISITED THIS SERIES THREE YEARS LATER. I BEGAN READING IN 2012 AND I READ UPTO EAGLE STRIKE AND I LOVED IT BUT I STOPPED FOR NO REASON AND THEN THIS YEAR I PICKED UP SCORPIA AND IT WAS BEAUTIFUL I READ IT IN A DAY AND IN THIS ONE, ALEX' VULNERABILITY REALLY COMES OUT THE FACT THAT HE'S 14 IS QUITE CLEAR AND YOU JUST END UP FEELING SO PROTECTIVE OVER HIM BECAUSE THAT JULIA ROTHMAN IS PLAYING WITH HIS MIND WHICH IS WEIRD BECAUSE I WAS 15 WHEN I READ THIS LOL OMG THIS BOOK IS BRILLIANT ONE OF MY FAVES IN THE SERIES AHH JUST READ IT OMG
the book essentially has the same formula as the other one but it was still exciting.
