I enjoyed this book for what it was - fun anecdotes about the filming of Gilmore girls. Nothing more than that.

Lauren Graham takes a moment to reflect and the book left me sitting there with that feeling like I could listen to her stories for decades. Gilmore Girls was a pivotal television series for me, as well as Parenthood, and I feel so honored that she shared her stories at all so I could glimpse in behind the magic. I think from now on, I’ll read every she writes and see everything she’s in.

This book just gave me the feels. As a huge fan of Gilmore Girls , it was both exciting and sad to read about the making of the show and how it came to an end. Lauren Graham truly is Lorelai Gilmore; she has a way with words, she's witty, she's funny, and she honestly speaks faster than anyone else. I thought I was listening to the audiobook at double speed, but when I checked it was set at normal speed. I thought that was hilarious.

I really enjoyed listening to Lauren's short stories about her childhood and life as a struggling actress. And her thoughts when she goes back and watches the original 7 seasons of Gilmore Girls is amazing! It's funny to hear what an actor thinks about the writing and the work they are doing. It gives some great insight into why there were certain costume choices, or what it's actually like to be on set for 14 hour days. I love listening to stories about production because I think it's super fascinating.

I haven't actually watched Parenthood just yet, but she didn't really delve into those stories at all. So I'm excited to finally watch the show and hope that she one day writes another book. She's a fantastic writer, and I really got a lot of out her book. I never expected to pick up writing tips, or even general life tips, when I started listening to the audiobook. But those were happy bonuses! And then of course all the emotion of the production of A Year in the Life was overwhelming. Lauren kept diary entries from the 70 days of shooting, so those bits were extremely interesting. Super emotional though!

I had so much respect for this actress, but after reading her book, that respect tripled! She's an amazing, funny, clever person. And I would love to meet her one day and ask her whether or not she ever found her jacket. As you may have picked up, I listened to the audiobook, and I highly recommend that you listen to it as you follow along. She refers to a lot of pictures that I missed out on, but I truly enjoyed listening to her tell her stories. They were genuine and heartwarming and I think I got more out of it by listening to her own voice and laughter. Such a wonderful book!!!
