I really enjoyed this book. I loved the concept, the story was well done, perfect amount of tension at any given time, and the characters were compelling. It was so refreshing to read a book about a strong female lead who knows she is beautiful, smart, and worthy; yet at the same time she is dangerous, a liar, a killer.

The only reason I didn't give it a higher rating like 4 stars is because the author seems to REALLY REALLY REALLY like their metaphors. Do not get my wrong, I love a good metaphor and they're my favorite type of figure of speech, however there are so many that it's almost distracting. While it does paint a pretty vivid picture I think a little less would be more in this case.

I have such mixed feelings about this book. On one hand the concept of the story itself is really interesting, I always enjoy a take on siren lore. Though on the other hand, it felt repetitive and a lot of telling versus showing . Characters are a big part of why I read, so these characters and their relationships didn’t make me FEEL anything.

I totally thought Saoirse had more chemistry with another character than the actual love interest, but I found out why I probably felt that way later on LMAOO.

I was definitely more engaged with the ending of book than the rest.

This book had a bit of a slow start but once it got going, boy was I hooked. I really loved the story mermaids/sirens have always been one of my favorite mythical creatures and this book really delivered. I would argue that this book isn't really enemies to lovers but more like a forbidden love. I really enjoyed the twists and turns of the book. Some of them suspected but some of them completely caught me off guard. Can't wait to get into the second book.
