This book is good, but overhyped. I felt like the magic didn't feel real or authentic, because the main character was already in middle school and it was almost TOO child-ish. Overall, a nice, quick read.

4.5 stars - A heartwarming middle grade magical realism story about Korean folklore, identity, family and loss. Wasn’t expecting it to be this emotionally layered and impactful, so was positively surprised. Think Tae Keller did an excellent job in sensitively yet openly discussing the topic of illness and death.
