wtf i love Malta now??

If you'd have told me last week that:

a) I'd hate Wintrow and his chapters

b) I'd want *more* Malta I would not have believed you.

I'm so invested but I really need to take some time off this series. It's really rough going and *so much* happens in a single book.

~3.5-3.75

enjoyed the characters development (malta esp)/their dynamics with one another and how the story is progressing (what still shocking to me personally was that i came into this thinking this would be my personal fave from the whole elderlings series but fitz's story is definitely taking it for me compare to this one)

"The Mad Ship" picks up right where "Ship of Magic" ends and dives into action right away. Robin Hobb does a great job with the story arcs; Malta, Kennit, and Paragon stand out.

Malta - Initially disliked her A LOT, but her development makes it hard not to appreciate her. Her character gains depth, and finally, some understanding beyond her initial naivety.

Kennit - I may have missed something, but I don't get why people are loyal and like him so much. I just think he is an asshole and gets away with things for no reason.

Paragon - Grumpy old ship, but the unveiling of his past made him grow on me.

While it may have been slow at times, particularly in the middle, the events laid out in this book set the stage for a satisfying finale, and I have high hopes for the last one.

Really should’ve read this trilogy before the Tawny Man Trilogy but reading it after the Tawny Man Trilogy is really it’s own fun too.
