If I could give these books more stars I would. I've read few books in my lifetime that were as emotional, and brought about so strong an attachment to the characters and the world created by the author.

I just can't ever seem to say enough about these books. Read them! READ THEM!!!

Hobb’s intertwining of characters and motivations is so seamless yet comes to such poignant climaxes that I can’t fathom how she has planned and written this.

I gasped out loud so many times while reading.

Very excited to see how she resolves her meticulous world building against the growing scale set up by this book - and how it might contrast with her approach to the ending of the Farseer trilogy.

Star Rating: 5 stars

Note: This is the 2nd book in the Liveship Traders trilogy and the 5th book in the overall Realm of the Elderlings series.

At the end of last year, I got in a massive traditional, classic, epic fantasy mood so I decided to try a lot of the different famous series, and the one I am currently making my way thorough is Robin Hobb’s Realm of the Elderlings series. I have decided that I will try to read 1 book a month, and this month I picked up Mad Ship. The Liveship trilogy tells a very complex, complicated, and multi-layered story of Vestrit family and all the machinations, conspiracies, and plots that they inadvertently get swept up in.

The best thing about this book is the development that the characters over the course of this story. A lot of the characters that I hated in the 1st book became characters that I actually admired in this book, such as Malta and Keffria. Also, I loved the discussions that the characters in this book such as the ones about slavery and independence.

Basically, if you enjoyed Robin Hobb or classic, epic, traditional fantasy, then I really think you should give this book and the entire series a try. 5 stars!!!!!

This is the 2nd book of the trilogy, and it;s just as good (and in some aspects even better) than the first. I can't wait to see what happens in the 3rd! :)
