I almost gave this a 3 but the one story had an obvious conclusion and the other was just a waste of time.

There was just zero substance and this was clearly a ripped from the headlines spin.

The first one in a long time to keep me intrigued throughout!

I really like this series but the story lines have become so predictable and choppy. And I’m especially tired of the regurgitated descriptions of each character & locations (such as Susie’s Cafe) in every book like how many times are we going to characterize Claire as the “fluffy black friend”?! It’s getting old at this point. I know they have to appeal to new readers but sheesh can we consider the regulars too? Can we get some fresh new content, maybe introduce a new character?

Anyways I thought Yuki’s rape case plot was interesting but the plot regarding homeless murders was extremely predictable. Lindsay meets the suspect one time and then all of a sudden has a Eureka moment that he was in a grainy cell phone photo that she took at another crime scene. Just seemed really far fetched and rushed. Especially when he’s confronted and immediately confesses to everything...story line over. Where’s the fun in that?!

Here’s hoping that #18 is better...

Short Review: This book made me angry. So much hype up for both who dunit and an IAD case, but both were total shit in the end! Ah.
SpoilerSo the dude was just killing random homeless people because he had mommy issues?! Why not just kill her (i mean he did but why not just her)? And then the IAD was like "nah don't do anything about either compliant, what do i care". DFJS:LFJKL:GJKL:AJGL:AJGKL:!
The ending is set up like they want to end this series, but i see the 18th is already on here so i guess they're going to keep going, so i'll keep reading.

Well written, but tropey.

3.5 stars!

WOW! This was a great novel, a real page turner! I have read all of the Women's Murder Club series, in order, and some have been really good and some have been just so-so. The 17th Suspect was really really good. Not every book highlights every member of the club, some playing a supporting role rather than a main character. Lindsay is always the main character, but the others seem to rotate. In this installment, Yuki shared the spotlight and I must say I was more intrigued with her storyline than I was with Boxer's. Not to say Lindsay's story wasn't a good one, Yuki's was just more intriguing to me. I saw that there is an 18th book set to be released 4/19./ Looking forward to it.

Was well worth the wait.... must be a number 18 right!!! 🤓
