I didn’t think Jane Harper could do it again but she did. I honestly liked this book more than The Dry. Complex. Thrilling. Definitely a page turner. I was engrossed in the the characters. The many story lines had me guessing wrong until the end. Exceptional work.

I liked this one even better than the first book [b:The Dry|27824826|The Dry (Aaron Falk, #1)|Jane Harper|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1456113132s/27824826.jpg|47804789]! I mean, who wouldn't enjoy a book about corporate retreat in the wilderness gone horribly wrong? By definition alone it's already all kinds of terrible. Who wants to be forced to spend their non-working hours with their co-workers overnight in the wilderness without a bathroom? And I like my co-workers! So yeah, there's definitely the potential for murder at one of those things. Goodness knows I would. I don't do camping.

Anyways, I really enjoyed how the tale of what actually happened during the days of this camping trip from hell corporate retreat is interspersed with the investigation by Falk and the police, along with some insight into Falk as a person and his own past. I will say this book isn't as 'intense' as the first one was, but I actually prefer my mystery thrillers to be more mystery and less thriller. This author is able to deliver both kinds though, so take your pick. I will definitely keep an eye out for future books by this author ([b:The Lost Man|39863488|The Lost Man|Jane Harper|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1525311818s/39863488.jpg|61405997] comes out in Feb 2019)

3.5 stars. A really enjoyable, unique thriller. Didn’t care much for the motive/s, but enjoyed the setting and a continuation of Aaron Falk’s story.

3.5 stars. Not as suspenseful as her debut book, The Dry, but still an enjoyable read.

This was an adventure/thriller involving 5 women on a work team building camping trip in the outback. Five go in, four come out.  And there is a never fully described bit of corporate espionage going on as well.  The book was well written and well told, alternating between the womens' trip and the search party for the missing woman, so we get the story revealed in a dual timeline, assuring that we seek to figure out what happened to Alice. I thoroughly enjoyed this and the investigators are becoming well developed characters. The narration was fabulous, providing an authentic Aussie accent to help set the stage and just the right level of tension throughout.
