I loved The Lonely Hearts Book Club so much and had high hopes for this one. And it lived up to that until about 3/4 of the way in. I loved all of the characters, except Catherine. I get the why she made her choices, but she just seemed so selfish and self-centered. And then for Jasper to just forgive her? No way. I just really hated their story once the truth came out.
A cute little romance! As an obsessive reader, i thought the plot revolving around notes left in books was incredibly charming. The author did a fantastic job with her references, i cried more than once at a few particularly special moments. Unfortunately i lost the love a bit at the end, when they just
couldnt resist tying up a few ends *too* neatly and the book went from sweet to saccharine.

“The Library of Borrowed Hearts” by Lucy Gilmore without context: ✍
I didn’t dislike the book. It was enjoyable but lacking a wow factor that was going to keep me reading. I probably would have finished it if I wasn’t taking four grad courses and if I didn’t have a pile of other books to read.
Also, mildly inaccurate librarian representation. A four year undergraduate degree would NOT get Chloe a librarian job, and I don’t think 19 year old 1960 Catherine should be a librarian either. Also also I think the author name drops her other book in this book so she created her own literary universe and I respect that.
Might pick up again someday.

Meh. This book is overly long for the actual content. In the end I found it kind of difficult to believe in or like any of the characters.
