I enjoyed this one a bit more than the first, with more hijinks to keep everyone in the family guessing what's going on, but I feel like the basic premise was hard to swallow. A type A personality like that not knowing immediately that she didn't get the credits she needed?

I really enjoyed this!! I didn’t love it as much as 10 Blind Dates so that’s why I didn’t give it 5 stars. It’s just a fun, light and fluffy read and I loved reading about the Fab Four again. I also loved the setting of a golf tournament and of course the huge Messina family. I would not be opposed to reading about the Fab Four while they’re in college… *hint hint Ashley Elston *

So happy to be back with the Messina family! I knew I'd give this a 5/5 from when it was announced - [b:10 Blind Dates|43885673|10 Blind Dates|Ashley Elston|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1553102132l/43885673._SY75_.jpg|58305774] is my favourite (standalone) book of all time - and I loved this sequel! I wish it had focused a little more on the family aspects, and it was missing the Christmas magic from the first book, although that only makes sense, as it's set in May...I just love Christmas, okay?! But overall it was a fun concept, I liked getting new perspectives and I loved the graduation/party-filled/summer setting. And I really hope there's more spin-offs - goodness knows there's more than enough characters to write about!

Overall: LOVED IT. 5/5

I hadn't realized this was a companion novel to 10 Blind Dates, which I really enjoyed when I read it. While you do not have to have read 10 Blind Dates to read this novel, it was great to be back with this big happy family again. This time we are focusing on Olivia, one of the cousins in the Fab Four we met previously. The premise is of the book is that the three other members of the Fab Four cover for Olivia while she tries to fulfill her PE credit during "Senior Party Week" in order to graduate and be salutatorian at her school.

This was a cute YA romance contemporary with friends, family and graduating from high school. I really liked the antics that the Fab Four got into as well as the romance that Olivia found herself in. I did however struggle that Olivia's parents had an app tracking her movements so closely on her phone and I missed some of the big family dynamics that existed in the previous novel. The Fab Four friendship group in this book was perfect, I loved how much Olivia trusted her friends to take over her phone for the week, it is such a great dynamic.

This was an enjoyable and quick read. I loved being back with this family again. I look forward to seeing what Elston does in the future! I received a copy of this from NetGalley and the publisher for an open and honest review. All opinions are 100% mine.

I thought this book was full of family, fun, and frenemies. I enjoyed the main character of Olivia and the other members of the fab four. It was entertaining to see them interact, especially with the Evil Joe's. I thought most of the graduation parties mentioned were extremely extravagant, but I'd definitely love to be invited to some of them. As a golfer, I liked the golf aspect, it's not a sport usually mentioned in YA books. I also loved reading about Olivia and her very large family.

One thing I wasn't fond of: How quick the relationship with L happened. It felt a bit forced, I would've found the relationship with the other L a bit more believable.

Another great light read form Ashley Elston. It was great to be back in same world with this big crazy family. You know that with this family everything that is planned is all over the place. It was a really fun concept but the only thing I didn't like was the use of the app. I know it is a real life app, and I think it is a very harmful thing in the wrong hands but I know why it was in the story, as it was the main driving force and is the reason for how the characters are driven to chaos. I didn't think we really connected with the character as much as we did in the first one but I wasn't looking for to much in this other than a good time. I would happily read another book in the series as they are usually light, fluffy and very human. This one was a very summer read, which is a good comparison to the first as it was a Christmas read

Absolutely loved this book. It can definitely be read as a stand alone. We get to catch up with the Fab Four, with the story focusing on Olivia and everything she has to go through in order to get those last few credits in order to graduate from HS. When the story is told from the POV of Charlie, Wes and Sophie, I was laughing out loud. The lengths that family will go to in order to help someone you love can be outright hysterical! The shenanigans were hilarious.

Olivia is the perfect student. But when it’s graduation week and it turns out she’s half a PE credit short of meeting graduation requirements she will do whatever it takes to make it up. BUT she doesn’t want her family to find out, so with the help of her cousins she comes up with a plan for her to volunteer at a golf tournament, while they hold on to her phone so her mom doesn’t see where she in on their tracking app. Clearly nothing can go wrong, right?&

I LOVED 10 Blind Dates, so when I saw there was a new book coming out with this incredible family, I was beyond excited. And this book did not disappoint. I LOVE this family and I would read all the books about them. In many ways this was your typical very cute and somewhat-cheesy teen contemporary, but with the BEST characters. I haven’t been a teenager in a long time, but I could see this being relatable to anyone in high school. I flew through this because I loved it so much. Keeping my fingers crossed that we will see more books about this family in the future!

Thank you to Disney-Hyperion and NetGalley for the advanced digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. 10 Truths and a Dare will be released on May 4th.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5 stars)
Reader’s Notes:

If you saw my review of 10 Blind Dates, this is a connected book that occurs after 10 Blind Dates and is narrated mainly by Sophie’s cousin Olivia.

– though 10 Blind Dates had some cursing and questionable clothing, this book did not.

– there is a male/male relationship in this story (in 10 Blind Dates we knew the uncle was interested in guys, but he did not have a significant other at that time. In this book he does have a s/o)

Review:

Olivia is the second in line for top of her graduating class, but when she is notified that she is missing gym credits she freaks out a bit. She did go to the class (most of the time) and passed all of her other ‘important’ classes with flying colors. But she finds out that her coach didn’t sign her form because she was gone/late more than the amount of times he allowed. While she was using the time to better her academics, she was also losing points in her off-site class. Uh oh!

But he gives her a second chance. All she has to do is help him with a golf tournament (and be on time doing it). But Olivia doesn’t want to let anyone know that she is less than perfect so she can’t tell her parents (or everyone in her large extended family will know). But with her parents out of town, her mom stalking her phone’s every move on the Life360 app, and texting her a thousand times a day, she would notice if Olivia isn’t attending to all the graduation parties she was invited to this week.

So she only has one option: tell her closest friends (2 cousins and a childhood friend) and convince them to help her out. How? By switching phones for the day and having them pretend to be her and bringing her phone to the areas the parties are. Simple right?

Well maybe for her cousin Sophie, but the other two (who are guys) don’t really know what to do when her mom starts talking outfits.

Vielleicht sogar nur 1.5 ⭐️, wären es nicht nur 300 Seiten, hätte ich es gar nicht beendet. Kann mich mal jemand dran erinnern, dass ich 27 bin und keinen Spaß mehr an High School Stories habe?
