Even though I’ve heard many people say how much better this book is than book one it still took me by surprise that I loved it so much. The story is intricate but not overwhelming, the romance is beyond swoony, the setting is beautifully-described (especially certain places), and the characters are so much more well-defined, and in many cases, likable. And now book one can be seen in such a different light and makes so much more sense. I look forward to continuing on the series.
I must point out that this is definitely not YA (despite how many libraries and bookstores shelve it), as far as content goes. It’s quite graphic and recommended for a mature reader.

i know- why did i continue after a 1 star rating of the first book, LMFAO, but i am nothing if not a dedicated friend and when one of my besties asks me to read a series, i will do it. that being said, this was just as bad as the first book imo. each book in this series is hundreds and hundreds of pages longer than necessary, entire scenes could be cut and nothing would change. i feel like these books don't get proper editing because there's SO MUCH ADDED that is completely unnecessary and makes it a chore to slog through the entire novel.

I can see how mass worked hard to develop Rhys’ character, but I felt that some of the romance and love scenes were long and drawn out.
Honestly, the book did not start to pick up until about 60% of the way through. I remember thinking, “Man… When is something interesting going to happen?”
Then next thing I know Lucian is behind Feyre telling her that he’s been hunting her for the last few months. From then on, the rest of the story is tense until the end.
There’s a lot of good examples of relationships and the sacrifices people are willing to make for relationships. Even if that means having to choose between two loved ones.
Overall, I really loved this book. I enjoyed it more than the first one. This was definitely a change of mood, and I look forward to the next one.
