3.75/5 stars ⭐ This is tricky for me to review because my enjoyment for the book was like a rollercoaster ride—low in the beginning, high in the middle and then low again at the end.

Pros: STEM female lead, compelling plot, enjoyed their dates together, adorable grandparents
Cons: Slow start, single mom (cute daughter or not, keep kids out of my romance books), unrealistic money issues to drive plot (single mom or not, statisticians do well. $90k+ well), both leads pissed me off at times and I didn't enjoy the conflict resolution

Overall okay but not my favorite when I consider all the details. Pretty upsetting too because romance needs more STEM female leads!

*Potential generic spoilers below*

I think my biggest problem was I wanted it to be more whimsical than it was Scientific.  I get why it was presented the way it was, but I'm not really into Science or Math.  I don't really understand either.  So, my brain just checked out during those moments.  Great job to the author on the research that must have taken though.

Definitely delivered -- the beginning was a bit rough with the data science talk but it works well with the story and the equation. <3
Well done - romance and family drama makes for a great summer book pick

Yeah idk…it was fine. Nothing to write home about. I skimmed a lot. A LOT of set up for a very predictable payoff.

Super cute book that made me make bad choices and stay up all night reading.

This book started as a grumpy x grumpy and turned into a shy nerd x stressed mom. I liked how even though there was a little character development, mostly in the developing trust department, it really was a book where it wasn't the characters who changed, it was the perspective. First impressions are not always the most important, or right impressions.

Jess and River's love story really bring into question whether you are more likely to fall in love with someone if you are told you are meant to be or would that put too much pressure and ruin it before it even started. I also love to read a book about a good single mom, doing everything she can to make life work and be good for her daughter, but learning that she can live for herself as well.

Loved it!!!!! Smart characters, realistic relationships, very believable chemistry between the main characters.
